Just made 3 cuttings as a trial in the sphagnum moss rooting method DD laid out a while back. The three cuttings were all bare stems with no leaves and one node on each stem which were inserted into the moist S-moss at a 45 degree angle then covered with more moss which was lightly misted and tossed several times until evenly moist.
Will keep you posted as to any developments.

I'm curious as to whether or not you will lift lid, or let it stay.  Where was that info also?  I checked here....."old Spf notes " pehaps?
hmm..is the wind offshore yet?

I planned to do this in a different container originally. One that was not so airtight. However, as I realy only had 3 cuttings to take right now, I decided on not wasting the S-moss which is quite expensive here.
I have seen people root cuttings in the same type of container and never remove the lid for weeks.

This method failed on the first attempt.
However, I believe it was not due to the method but weak cuttings with zero leaves which I had taken off an ailing plant.
This is my first ever failure at rooting any cuttings after rooting over 100 in water. Boooooooo Hooooooooooooo HooooooooooooO!

Yeah, they just rotted away.
It was the weak cuttings for sure and not the method.
I was only trying this method to learn it for making Kratom cuttings and as my only kratom plant bit the dust there is not much need for it with SD.

Are you using live moss, or dried?

It was dried S-moss.
I think the problem were the weak cuttings with no leaves.
This method will probably work well if the cuttings have leaves.
But, as I have no problems rooting them in water it is really not that important for SD.
Although, I just read of another good method for rooting leafless stems.

Yea, rooting in plain water usually works fine.
Maybe a little better is to have an airstone bubbling in the water.

What is the method you heard for leafless stems?
...and as if from the inception of time itself I realized I was and had been for sometime, elsewhere, elsewhen or somehow, quite seriously, otherwise...

Have you ever tried live sphagnum? I have some growing in a box outside, but I haven't tried it yet. Supposedly, it works well.

Sorry Toostoned. Didn't see your post there.
DD on the entheology.org site and others posted a method of rooting leafless stems. Someone actually made over 600 cuttings from just a few plants like this, it seems. I think it is in the "trying for resurrection" thread but I am not 100% sure about this and am not able to check on it anymore. If you get my meaning
Also, I glimpsed some photos someone posted of what appeared to be successfully getting SD leaves in a bag to produce stems and root also. If you manage to find out the method please let me know the details.
Might be an idea to ask for permission to reproduce the method of this over here as this is a big issue over there right now.

Thanks in advance.
