a group of us, on peyote, had little to share with a group on marijuana

the marijuana smokers were discussing questions of the utmost profundity and we were sticking our fingers in our navels & giggling

Let me tell you why I'm voting for Obama......

1. We the People can't afford to let the neocons nominate any more members of The Supreme Court. That would be dangerous for our constitution, imo. We've already seen the results of a neocon court, giving the presidency to Bush with the DIVIDED vote. Personal freedom isn't on the agenda of the far right.

2. McCain has shown a terrible lack of judgement, imo, with the choice of Palin as a running mate. That move was made to placate the far right of their political base but will do nothing to unite the country if/when they were to take office. Again, the republicans have shown their true stripe to be dividers rather than uniters. Their rallies are full of hate and venom directed toward the democratic candidate, playing on the fears and prejudices of ignorant, mostly rural, white voters.

2.1. McCain's reaction to the recent financial crisis showed him as an impulsive person with little knowledge of the topic at hand. Well, it confirmed that suspicion I'd developed after hearing him state in public not long ago that "His grasp of economics wasn't very strong." At the same time, he was saying the fundamentals of our economy were strong. And that was just plain not true, as we can all see now.

2.2 In fact, McCain's performance has been so awful that he's lost the support of what he is on record as calling the core of his political base; the media. Yes, McCain has enjoyed a wonderful relationship with the media in general. That is, until the wheels started coming off his campaign and the media actually covered his poor decisions.

2.3 Sarah Palin for VP of the U$? Pull-eez..... Only the right wing nut cases are still on the bandwagon at this point, imo: The neocons, fanatical religious right and racists.

3. Obama, on the other hand has managed to remain mostly above the mud throwing tactics used by his opponent. He even took the high road, imo, at the debates and shrugged off the attacks meant to put him on the defensive and create rifts between him and undecided voters. He has chosen to stick to the important issues at hand for the most part and will be much more of a uniter than Bush, McLame or Palin ever will be.

3.1 For example to the assertions above, I remember seeing Palin whipping a crowd into frenzy while making the claim that "Obama isn't an American like you and me." And,  "he doesn't love America like we do."

Now, remember that this is coming from a woman who is married to a man with recent affiliations to the Alaska First Party, which is a movement to have Alaska leave the union of states. And Palin has given addresses to the group by video during their conventions. Tell me again how wanting your state to leave the union shows a love for America and Its principals? This is public record. But still Obama refrains from slinging the mud back in their direction. Why? I believe he truly desires to unite the country.

3.2 Obama has clearly organized better than either McLame or Clinton. At the same time, Obama is on record as saying he's only ever met with lobbyists twice in his career. His donations are coming from regular joes. Btw, check out the roster of Mclame's advisors. This list is mostly made up of industry lobbyists and corporate insiders. Its clear where his loyalties lie, no matter what he says.
