While walking to the library yesterday,  I passed by an office building that is being repainted..  I'd been by the place several times before and noticed the work crew was comprised of all Mexican appearing guys.  (not that unusual in Fl)  I'd noticed they seemed to plod along, hating their jobs, but resigned to getting that building painted...  Today, as I passed by, they had a big boom box outside, and as I approached, I could hear the vibrant strains of "Oya Como Va" filling the air from hundreds of feet away...  It was with smiling joy that I watched the guys working.  They were moving in time to Carlos' wailing guitar.  They faces shone with pleasant good nature and they were getting mucho work accomplished...  Some say music soothes the savage beast...  I say it can also energize and invigorate the poor wage slave :!:

absolutely. works like magic in a classroom. If i deserve a good time, i bring along a favourite song and have the kids do some sort of activity while listening. Pure energy upsurge.

(and i always say, a happy teacher is a better human being)
amy's "valerie" was my most recent well-earned respite, but if i feel like socking em one (so to speak) i give them Neil's After the Gold Rush.

Music - such a marvellous gift.
