Grafted Lophophora

I have grown Lophophora from seed for 10 + years now but it has been a slow process as many will know. I have a friend who grafts them and gets much faster results tho when grafting the plants chemistry is altered.  I know that when grafting onto stocks such as Pereskiopsis (Pereskia) or Myrtillocactus the plant will not produce 'Mescaline' until degrafted and rerooted. It crossed my mind that when grafted to Trichocereus ,due to the abvious mescaline content within the grafting stock surely this will be carried through to the grafted plant?
Has anyone any proof of this? I do know that Pereskiopsis is good up until flowering size but then needs degrafting as the ultimate size of the plant is by far smaller than if grown on Myrtillocactus, or Harrisia stocks. The best stock giving ultimately the largest plants and fastest growth is Trichocereus and on this stock the plants can live out their entire lives without ever being degrafted. The question is how does this affect the plants chemistry :?:

I have heard  somewhere that the stock does not effect the scion chemistry, maybe in Adan Gottliebs book, which is a bit dicey, but I'm not sure.

I would think time is the main factor in mescaline production...

So it would be about the same if grafted to anything...

Chemicals are not trasnfered through stock to scion.

Teo, you are correct. A graft will speed up growth but mesc production takes a longer while. Some people grow on stock until it gets big and then cut it loose and root it. Or, they grow until it outgrows the stock, cut it loose and put it on bigger stock. But, you end up with a huge lopho with little potency. You have to wait for that to catch up. So I've heard.

Can anyone point me to rock solid evidence of the grafted plant eventually producing mescaline? Perhaps someone has eaten their mates plants while they slept or something? I have seen the Adam Gotlieb book and almost bought it on a number of occasions but it looks a rather cobbled together work and i dont entirely trust it. There are better books on Lopho's but none i have cover this?

The Gotlieb book is junk. It's full of stories and old wive's tales. Avoid it. You find more genuine info on boards like these.

Well guys he wrote the book pre internet. And trust me, information was scarce and sketchy. I mean he was a pretty pioneering dude in all this, whoever he was.

Question: you think Adam Gottlieb and Mary Jane Superweed were the same person? And how was the Church of the Tree of Life connected?

Well, I must say I certainly give Gottlieb some props (pre intenet)..  If nothing else, he at least sent my mind spinning in imagined scenarios that were really fun...  For instance:  The one where he detailed the setting up of a mycellium farm to produce five thousand doses a week.  That was pretty revolutionary in its time as well as written for the newb to easily understand....

Indeed, same here. I had a photocopy of his silly book "Legal Highs". Still have it somewhere. BTW anyone have any adrenechrome?

But all those guys like Gottlieb, the guy that wrote "Magical and Ritual Use of Herbs"(I think that what it's called, couldn't find my copy) Gracii and Zarkov, Psychedelic Illuminations, etc., kept the the mystery alive until the internet blew it back up. They were a brave bunch and a huge influence on me. I renetered the psychedelic world in the early 90s and any informantion I could find was gobbled up. I wrote away for every cataloge advirtised in the back of High Times and wore out the pages. When I found Psychedelics Encyclopedia  and JLF I thought I was in heaven.

Anyone remember a company called Rosetta? They sold reprints from journals and early internet stuff from newsgroups. I guess when everyone got online they faded away.

Yep, I can fondly recall the countless hours I spent poring over the fine print ads in the back of High Times...  Carefully reading those articles and ads led me to bookstores where I found the Paul Stament classic (I believe it was called (Growing the Magic Mushrooms) Though I never did take the plunge and attempt production, I was pleasantly happy that there were such books, that if a person was a bit diligent in the search, "entheo-knowledge" was indeed 'out there', was available...Heady to find they 'Da Man couldn't stem the flow of info to 'Da Peeps

As a juvinille, I actually tried his mycellium farm, lol ;0 I lived near daytona, off a dirt road where I could pick (no lie) like 20 wet pounds of cubes a day ona  bad day, and they were very potent, one of the best fields I saw.  I had only a five minute walk through my property to get there!  So I was not at all impatient with needing mushrooms, but fascinated by his ideas.

BTW, this is a bad idea and I've been to rehab since then and was a juvenile.

So, I got like 1000 quart mason jars from  some friends whose grammy had a shut-down moonshine farm, and started making agar and cooking  birdseed. . . lol, we found you could make the mycellium potent, if you put it in honey, but it took like 3 years before you had the same psilocin content of just fruiting the bastards!

It gave me my background in biology, though, and really changed my life for the better.  I would never have been a Biology major otherwise, I bet, so, for the record, Gottlieb rocks, even though the books need to be edited and put into a format that is less misleading for the modern reader.
