Today I am going to install a mod that will change the way URLs look.
This mod will rewrite phpBB URLs, injecting categories and forum titles in them. This also shouldn't affect functionality but will greatly improve our standings with search engine results.

It's likely that the forums will be down for a few minutes, maybe up to an hour.
If it takes longer, I'll reschedule.

Ok that went pretty well... the site was unavailable for a few minutes, not any longer. Hopefully nobody even noticed.

This mod writes static URLs (which is great for page ranking with search engines) and it does inject forum names into certain URLs.
I mistakenly said it also injects post titles but this mod does not.

This is what a topic URL used to look like-

This is what a topic looks like now-

Are you 'under the hood' again? Just trying to send a PM and I get this error when trying to post or preview:

QuoteFatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 737280 bytes) in /var/www/html/phpbb/includes/utf/data/utf_compatibility_decomp.php on line 2
Luckily it didnt eat my message  :cool2 As it works for forum messages I thought I should let you know. I also used the PM function earlier today and all was fine.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.0.3) Gecko/2008092417 Firefox/3.0.3

The message is 2444 characters (with spaces) in 3 paragraphs over 29 lines - if such clues help. Perhaps this new mod has become self aware and thus intimidated by my mere presence

Hey GM, sorry I missed this post till now. Nope haven't been fixin/breakin stuff lately... you say you get that when sending a PM? Is that still happening even today?

Guess I'll shoot you a PM and see for myself.

If it's still an issue, I will check it out tomorrow/Saturday. Have to look at the not-staying-logged-in issue anyhow.

PM sent... without error  :smoke1

I am still having trouble staying logged in, not all the time but still a lot.
a group of us, on peyote, had little to share with a group on marijuana

the marijuana smokers were discussing questions of the utmost profundity and we were sticking our fingers in our navels & giggling

okie GM, sent you another PM.
I've increased the memory that PHP can use... please try sending that PM that initially gave an error and let me know how it goes.

AS far as the logged-in issue... still working on that  :tea:

Quoteokie GM, sent you another PM.

It seemed to be the £ character that was holding things up (after your pm hint I tried swapping out non text characters) however I didnt import anything fancy just pushed shift + 3. I changed the symbol to GBP and it went out just fine. £ works here obv - bon chance!

EDIT: OK this seems odd - in submitting the above post the page timed out and then after going back in my browser and pressing submit again I got sent to a bizarre forum, check the attached PDF. Message went through ok but it feels wrong enough to flag  :?:

hmmm that's just the sitemap //http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Site_map
It's a map of the forum specifically made so Google and other search engines can easily index the forum. It doesn't have the regular dark style since it came out really weird looking on that page for some reason.

Not sure why it sent you there though.....
Well, let me know if anything else causes issues... I'm not sure if there is a larger problem or what. I guess if it let you post that character things might be better?  :?
