SO the cutting I took, which I referred to I cut at the node and placed in water, little roots came about about 2 mm long, a week and a half ago and haven't grown a bit since.  In addition to that, the leaves are starting to get that black around theedges.  What gives?  I keep it in a glass of filtered britta water I change every two days.  Any advice/suggestions/similar experiences?

Blackening is pretty common, sometimes it happens sometimes it doesn't.......I don't know why the roots stop coming out, sometimes the same thing happens to me.,..could need more light on stem?

You could wait, another week or so, or just plant it now, either way, when they are "acting slow".....you just have to keep an ey on them, especially in dirt, as they will rot if you keep watering them.. I ahve some  stems in wate, that are doing ANYTHING, not rooting, not rotting, just...waiting... they will pop some roots soon, but its been like 2 1/2 weeks...i think the stems are a bit old (hardened off) and that might slow em' down, you should use the freshly growing tip etc.  Good luck.
hmm..is the wind offshore yet?

Yea, I would go ahead an plant it in some soil.
...and as if from the inception of time itself I realized I was and had been for sometime, elsewhere, elsewhen or somehow, quite seriously, otherwise...
