I would have to say Shpongle, hands down! They cover all three of your stipulations rather nicely...

I like CAN until the mid/late 70's. I'm rather partial to non-tweaky pre-super-synth music. But if I'm going electronica, I'd go Tangerine Dream from 1969 to early 80's.

Hmmm.....

I hesitate to post this, as there will surely be those who disagree with my choice of band/era/year/date/song selection. But if you hit this link and then click on #13, you should end up listening to a percussive/spacey interlude of a dead show from Oct of 89 that I had the honor of attending. I'd like to say I had the "pleasure" to be there, but that would be stretching things a bit. At that point in my psychedelic development I was still fighting to maintain control during peak experiences like that on the other end of this link. This show was not fun for me when it went down. I fought tooth and nail to stay above water. The next day I bugged out of the scene and stayed away for a few years, regrouping. Anyway, listening to this show today makes me regret that I was seeing the glass as half-empty the day this show spilled forth......

Anyway, I fought the law and the law won.

These days, I use interludes like #13 or 14 as background music for salvia experiences. And we've recently been known to smoke sally/circus joints at live shows while Phil and da boyz are busy getting jiggy wit' it..... Now, that there can be a real venture into the realm of letting go..

LW--I was at a few Phish shows in a state somewhat how you describe, maybe not quite as dire, but still...

I'd put in a word for Miles Davis and John Coltrane, especially their work in the '60s. Davis' Bitches Brew and Coltrane's last few albums...

Juno Reactor and Chemical Brothers (early Chems, later on they got boring) put out some nice deep grooves...early Moby is fine stuff, I'm a great fan of Play...John Digweed...Shpongle, of course, get all three of their albums and have yourself a sweet high night

Oh, and I have to mention Portishead, really deep stuff with the lights low and the smoke, incense or otherwise, drifting in the shadows...

That's some for now  8)

cen: LOL So, I'm not the only one who has gobbled a big dose at a show only to be asking myself a short time later why-in-the-hell I did THAT? Talk about a psychedelic magnifying glass, eh?

Anyway, I've grown partial to sharing the salvia experience with others by starting to load the bong and give last minute instructions when song #12 begins. (I Will Take You Home..) The actual smoking usually commences toward the end of the lullabye in question and effects should/might be noticed as the body/breathing synchs with the opening drum passage....

Trippy grooves you say??

Bitches Brew-- Miles Davis fits the bill-right on Cen
A good Dark Star from the Dead, the one from Live Dead for example
Dr. John's first record, Gris Gris
A tune called Glimpses from the Yardbirds--- Little Games(this one blew my mind on my first acid trip in Dec 67 and still does)
Third Stone From the Sun-- Jimi Hendrix

For starters!
a group of us, on peyote, had little to share with a group on marijuana

the marijuana smokers were discussing questions of the utmost profundity and we were sticking our fingers in our navels & giggling

I don't have the time to list specific shows right now - thanks lw for listing some like that - but it comes around with the dead, dark star, drums/space interludes.

Here's one though: http://www.mail-archive.com/dead-heads@ ... 00237.html

Smoking of the dragibus extract 10x should commense sometime about Come Together.  You'll know when.

Man, tstt, what a blast from the past. I almost forgot about that show. Isn't that the one that really shook the mountain during drums? That was my first trip into the cosmic library dome...

Here are the lyrics for the lullabye that I like to use as an intro to the sally experience.

"I Will Take You Home"
Words by John Perry Barlow; music by Brent Mydland
Copyright Ice Nine Publishing; used by permission.

Little girl lost
In a forest of dreams.
It's a dark old wood
And it's damp with dew.
Hoot owl hoots
For a moment it seems
Something big and cold
Just got ahold of you.
Just when everything gets scary,
Daddy's come 'round for his darlin' again.
Hold my hand with your little fingers.
Daddy's loving arms gonna gather you in.
Ain't no way the Bogeyman can get you,
You can close your eyes, the world is gonna let you,
Your daddy's here and never will forget you,
I will take you home.
I will take you home.
Gonna carry you back home
In my arms.
I will take you home.

Long is the road
We must travel on down.
Short are the legs
That will struggle behind.
I wish I knew for sure
Just where we're bound,
What we will be doin'
And what we're gonna find.
Wherever we go, there will be birds to cheer you
Flower to color in the fields around.
Wherever we go, I'll be right here near you
You can't get lost when you're always found.

Ain't no fog that's thick enough to hide you
Your daddy's gonna be right here beside you
If your fears should start to get inside you
I will take you home.
I will take you home.
Gonna carry you back home
In my arms.
I will take you home.
Lost my boots in transit, babe,
smokin\' pile of leather.
Nailed a retread to my feet
and prayed for better weather...
