Didn't another (white) cop do about the same thing under similar circumstances awhile back? (I thought I'd seen this one before, but don't remember the dude being black.)

I think the best way to utilize nincompoop #1 would be to make him give educational speeches while using the video and his healed wounds as the main attraction. But no more guns in that cowboys, hands, please.......

I heard the firing pin broke. I still don't know why a round was chambered, but still. A friend of mine was in a shooting competition years ago. He emptied his clip, discharged it, put a new one in and pulled the slider. Upon letting the slider go, BAM!, a round went off due to the firing pin having a hairline fracture. This is what may have happened.

I watched the video clip. The gun didn't go off when he chambered that shell. The gun went off as he was attempting to holster the weapon.

The bottom line is that the officer was not handling an empty gun. It was loaded. And he was giving instructions on safe gun handling proceedures to kids when he shot himself in the foot. The condition of the firing pin matters not one whit. (a gun must be loaded to fire.) And I would expect any person who regularly handles guns to know that.

Your friends gun went off because he failed to empty the weapon. The rest is excuses, imo. A firing pin with a hair-line fracture that malfunctions in an empty gun poses no threat to anyones safety.

And I'm glad dudes supervisors agreed with me.

Gun Safety?  He shouldn't have even brought the gun into a classroom.

I thought it interesting on his complaint - it appears his only qualifications to be a DEA agent was he played football for Flordia State and then professionally for Flordia teams.  I guess that would about as good as playing for the Dallas Cowboys.

I wonder what all his old football buddies think of him now that they know he was the narc?
