could anyone tell me what do to about this Psychotria viridis (Chacruna). we got it about 8 or so monthes ago, and its basically still as it was when we got it. i have given it plant food only once, cause i thought it might want to chill during winter (winter here being not much light at all).
the caapi we got at the same time is doing real great, sprouting leaves and all, but this veridis just isnt doing anything.

???gaahhhh????? what to do???:?:  :?:

peas and carrots:)

How is the humidity where it's at? PV likes high levels. They need to be fed more than once in 8 months. Don't give it direct sun, just indirect light. Do that and it should perk up. To help the humidity level you can put a dome over it for a while. A 2 or 3 liter clear pop bottle with the bottom cut off works great.

For what it's worth, I've never had to do anything with my Chacruna to keep thier humidity up; they've adapted to ambient levels quite nicely. I suppose if one were in a desert, though...

Looks like your plant may be in need of food. Also, I've seen similar problems with Salvia when the water was bad (well water processed through a salt-based softener can kill sensitive plants, BTW).

Chacruna likes fish and/or seaweed emulsion.

oh so far still excatly the same.
i did as said. i took it away from too close to the window, and put it in more shade. i will feed it next time i water it, maybe even change its dirt.
maybe i'll try a dome on it for a while to get it in  a bit more humid environment.

thanx guys for the advice. always good stuff..

the salvia after your guys advice, is now doing good again, sprouting leaves and all:)
woouuhhh!!! :D  :D

I wouldn't change the dirt, that's likely to be a shock to it. The other measures sound good. You aren't keeping the soil wet all the time are you? It needs to dry out between waterings just like other plants.

Agreed. I haven't grown the plant, but in general a plant that is that sad shouldn't be transplanted until it's happy.
