A year has passed since we buried Greg. Its been a week of grieving for the family and community; there was a memorial service on Thursday, the anniversary of his murder. The process was like scratching at unhealed sores for me and a few others; there was no relief. Last year we were in shock but now it just plain hurts. Immersion into the lives of the children has been the best remedy, but these have still been moments when I have doubted my and laura's ability to make it through this as a couple. Man, I can see how tragedy can tear a family up even after the fact.

I miss greg and many of us think of him every day. "What would greg do?" has become my personal mantra when dealing with the kids. Strangely, I find the most comfort in knowing how much greg would appreciate our efforts with his family.

But it sure hasn't gotten any easier for any of us and I can't forsee what could happen to change that in the near future.

Thanks for letting me get this off of my chest.

Nailed a retread to my feet
and prayed for better weather...

will it get any easier to miss a man with as large a presence as Greg's...
can it get easier, when life gets harder and wonderful intelligence is the very thing that is needed?

You will get used to looking for him, that is probably true, and maybe you'll start to hear his voice within you when it's needed.

A year is just a breath - time will help you digest this new reality.

and i understand. The very admission of so much longing helps relieve some of the pressure

'Tis said that time heals all wounds...  (Personally, I think not)  Hug the kids bro willow..  In your dark moments remember that comment the tykes made that "Greg will always be with us".........  senorsal
