I think Space and Senor are going to outlive us all.  I guess their is some truth to that only the good die young theory.

My grandmother died at 107--only because her heart was broken by the death of her daughter (my mother) due to surgical complications.

She ate butter, white bread, and grape jelly, mostly, for the last 20 years of her life, except for bacon and eggs every morning, and her frequent favorite of green beans flavored with bacon fat by the ladle-full.

Up to the time of her death, she lived in her own home, cooked her own meals, and moved around under her own power.  At 100 she had a hip repair and got written up in a medical journal for having the bones of a 40 year old woman.  For years, we didn't get along:  I thought she was mean, and she thought I was wild.  My mother thought we were two peas in a pod.  We settled our differences once she hit about 100 and shared many laughs.  She went to bed each night with a shot of Kentucky bourbon, and we shared that, too, near the end.

She loved life.  That's the real secret, I think, that visceral, electric connection to joyful life.

Just like it's better to be lucky than smart, it's better to have good genes than good habits...
