here ya go.... i was msging a friend on the boards.... trading....and i figured that i should just go ahead and post this..... take care yall!

trich bridgsii (clumping penis clone)......i paid extra money to sacred succulents for a good speciman of this cacti.... and its came in ... it was beautiful.... i put it in my cacti greenhouse.... and its hot.. and dry in there... and the cacti love it... well... i water pretty frequently... using a 2 gallon pumpm sprayer...sometimes with organic nutes... salts etc....

well.... this bridgesii started to get little black spots on it... all of my other trichs do well against this mildew... whatever it is.... so i think the bridgesii is sensitive to overwatering.... by developing this black shit on it.... so be careful when watering....

i dont water too much...... only mist the top half inch (2-4 mm) or so... so i aint watering much.... its just.... itll swell up and look all nice and fat..... and healthy... but i think its more prone to mildew growing in this way....

so i put a little austratlian tea tree oil on the black mold... bad idea... it turned all the green tissue white..... and it sunk in.... bad idea....

hey... i tried alcohol i long time ago.... it didnt work... so i wanted to experiment a little....

so i cut off the two clumps that i could..... and sliced em so that each has an ariole on it.... so it can be planted... and make a new cacti!

and lately.... with this cactus... when i make a cut.... i immediately put some rooting powder on it... to dry it up... . and keep that black mold from starting again

previously... when i would slice off the small portion with the mildew... with a razor blade... fresh one.... it woudl callouse over nicely..... white.... but there would always be a little speck of black in it... and it would grow

Oh hey, I've got 2 or 3 different varieties of this clumping bridgessi........ all in one pot.  Possibly one of my favorite cactus.  Haven't had a problem with em so far.  I try my best to let the soil completely dry out before re-watering them.  Good luck.

How did you make those cuts again?

i cut em witha  sharp razor.....
i cut the clump into two or three chunks... each with an ariole on it... so that a pup will pop out...

i was letting em dry out all the way... only the top inch or so actually gets wet...and it evaps pretty quick...... just... it got all fat and nice lookin...like any trich would...just... it was a little too much... it couldnt keep that mildew down... not hot and dry enough i guess...on the surface of the skin

what are you asking???
about the rooting powder???
i just use it on every fresh cut... coat it with powder... and it dries out quicker... and with less black mold formin

Oh I meant, it sounded like you would take an individual section or growth and cut it into several pieces as opposed to just one piece (which is the way I would of thought to do it.)....... but I think I get what you meant now.

Two points of interest here. Is this bridgesii truly a'clumping' trich? That is,in the same category as Grandiflorus or Huascha?Actually, the answer can probably only be no,which of course affects some previous thinking of mine in another thread. So it must imitate 'clumping' trichocereus. Unless the white flowered grandiflora is a hybrid...

The second, more to point w/this post,Is that i personally avoid using oils etc. these days, on any my cacti. At the beginning of las` summer,I did so w/Neem and a 'Safer' product, for the same general reason you did Antilight, and the result was badly blistered Columns. Only when The white tissue formed(ugly in it`s own right) was I relieved.

Thats also when I used dry sulpher for vegetable dusting,it seemed to help dry out the mess i made. Now, I won`t make any claims for Sulpher. After the negativity of doing harm instead of good it jus` might have been a placebo in terms of application. In other words,i wasn`t doing something wrong,at least.

I will continue testing it as a hopfully irritant to spider-mites, and another critter I get,(xcuse me,my cacti get!)which is my only problem. At least as long as i`m not scewing things up meself.

Its a bridgesii, it is not related to the "clumpers" or the T. huashca complex.

It does have a clumping growth habit, because it is a monstrose variation.

I have some questions regarding its origin and identity, anyone here feel that can answer them?

well... i chopped up that penis clone...

and that sucker had more black spots forming on it...

so i cut em off and used more rootin powder.....

its seems that the bridgesii likes it very very dry.....

also... i did notice on my toothpick cactus... that the arioles.. .where the white is..... has green mold forming on it...
its the first time this cacti was planted into the ground.....so it need to be uprooted and put into a clay pot....

yup....anyone growing bridgesii in humid climates???
