On this week's show:

* Featured New Rock Album: The Pixies, *Indie Cindy* (2014) . . . It's been 13 years since the Pixies have released a new LP . . . the challenge in reuniting, in addition to the loss of bassist Kim Gordon, was both to acknowledge & ignore the passage of time . . . to resume & discover in the process what it means to do so . . . I like this album a lot, not for upholding a legacy or at least not tarnishing it . . . No, I like it as a well-made record that reminds me why I like the wiley genre-bending Pixies, & also makes me glad they are resuming their band's path ahead . . . good stuff . . .

* Featured Classic Rock Album: Seatrain, *Seatrain* (1970) . . . Easiest way to describe this California roots-rock band is to say they grew out of other bands from the 60s, more bluesy oriented, into something that made this beautifully played & harmonized album, produced by George Martin (his first post-Beatles production, & a good one) . . . they know how to play, they know how to sing, they have a good sense of humor, & time spent with them is sweet indeed . . .

*Storybook Time*: Continuing Chapter 27 of *The Acid Diaries: A Psychonaut's Guide to the History & Use of LSD* by Christopher Gray. . .

* Readings from *Labyrinthine* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems & *Bags End News* . . . & this week's featured artists are The Jimi Hendeix Experience and their name-making performance at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival . . . keep turning that corner, again & again, see the sun, love the clouds, keep a nose for water, tender many, sing, sing, sing . . .

On this week's show:

* Featured New Rock Album: Tame Impala, *Lonerism* (2012) . . . This Australian band didn't strike my ears deep at first . . . but I gave this, their second album, a good listen this time around, & it stuck . . . there's lots of sweet lysergic goodness here, lots of touches that shows this young band has good ears & a lot of talent . . .

* Featured Classic Rock Album: Simon & Garfunkel, *Bridge Over Troubled Water* (1970) . . . Last played this album on 9/26/2004 broadcast, bringing it around again . . . as a swan song, only its own contemporary *Abbey Road* would compare . . . Simon would hit these wonderful rock poet heights again & again solo, but not often with his brother at his side . . .

*Storybook Time*: Continuing Chapter 27 of *The Acid Diaries: A Psychonaut's Guide to the History & Use of LSD* by Christopher Gray. . .

* Readings from *Labyrinthine* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems & *Bags End News* . . . & this week's featured artists are The Mamas and The Papas and their show-closing performance at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival . . . happy to be doing this show tonight, happy & wanting to share the music however I can . . .
