On this week's show:

* New Rock Album: Camper Van Beethoven, *La Costa Perdida* (2013) . . . CVB did not have to get together & make new music, they have many albums' worth already . . . but they did, & the love of playing with each other, & chasing new spaces, is happily evident . . . they are the rare band that in their music both acknowledge the long time between albums (their last new one was in 2004), & yet pick up the slack easily, readily, & masterfully . . .

* Classic Rock Album: The Mandrake Memorial, *Puzzle* (1969) . . . The third & last of this Philadelphia-based acid rock group, & it is their best . . . their songs are still sweet at heart, but have now become at times so deeply psychedelicized that one is left deeply, & happily, adrift at times . . . a real treat, & one worth finding its way into the next century from its origins . . .

*Storybook Time*: Continuing Chapter 10 of *The Acid Diaries: A Psychonaut's Guide to the History & Use of LSD* by Christopher Gray. . .

* Readings from *Labyrinthine* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems . . . & the week's featured artist is Mortimer, one of those brief poppy flashes from long ago, & cuts from their self-titled (& only) 1968 album . . . New England is buried in snow right now, & it is lovely, & primal . . .

On this week's show:

* New Rock Album: Green Day, *¡Tré!* (2012) . . . The conclusion of Green Day's trio of albums released last fall & winter . . . the boys know how to rock and roll with the best of them, but there is in their recent music a lure to the mellow, the ballad, the sweet, & this is as good a trend as that they can turn up the amps still & go . . . Green Day are finding their own path as always, & one worth following them as they go . . .

* Classic Rock Album: Richard & Linda Thompson, *Pour Down Like Silver* (1975) . . . At this time the Thompsons were pursuing interest in Sufism, & there are stories that some in their faith did not like their pursuits of music, particularly Richard's electric guitar . . . from this distance, one can only dismiss the tales & say this album is a brilliant, beautiful piece of work & thank them for it . . .

*Storybook Time*: Chapter 11 of *The Acid Diaries: A Psychonaut's Guide to the History & Use of LSD* by Christopher Gray. . .

* Readings from *Labyrinthine* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems . . . & the week's featured artist is Rainbow Ffolly, a short-lived psychedelic pop English band, & cuts them their only album, 1968's *Sallies Fforth* . . . the snow remains, more comes, & New England is as deep & lovely as ever below it . . .
