Ghadaffy was a stock bad guy in the west but he took good care of his people. There was free food, free housing, instead of taxes he gave citizens money out of oil production. None of those facts were reported in the west. All we ever heard about was that there was no free speech and a few other niceties we are used to in the west. But i'll bet a lot of westerners would have traded their lot to be a citizen over there.

He alienated his arab neighbors and meddled with stuff like the plane bombing. So yeah, he was a bad guy too but you could say that about any leader. Obama kills people everyday with standing orders. They get a tip that a "ring leader" is hiding in an apt building. Quicker than you can say 'whizz bang' the building is blown up along with perhaps 20 families, young old and parents who had the misfortune of being in that building. Or being on the road when a car is targetted. Recently he had an american killed. No bringing of charges, no trial, no chance to defend yourself. Just whizz bang and they are dead.

The point being that there are few good guys and its the bad guys who grab the reins of power.
