I came home to find a package waiting in the mailbox for me today. Inside were the highlights of a couple of years worth of Dead shows I'd caught. Right now, I'm listening to a show that has been stuck in my memory for more than 22 years but its the first time I've really heard it since the day they laid it down. (10-2-88) Anyway, this thread is a personal and public shout out to Cunningplatypus for offering me some shows that i've really wanted for a long time.

Thank you, cp.

Thanks for the kind words, LW.

It's pretty incredible that we were at many of these same shows, more than twenty odd years ago. It's a small world indeed. The whole adventure that we call the Grateful Dead was a profound life-changing experience, for many of us. Keep the faith.

to lead must follow
but if you fall
you fall alone
If you should stand
then who's to guide you?
If I knew the way
I would take you home

Man, I'd love to see Further. The music I've heard from Further kicks ass. I like it a whole lot better than the reincarnation of the Dead (which is still pretty good, all things considered). The lead guitarist/singer (I can never remember his name) sounds spookily and effortlessly like Jerry. I was just listening to a Further show this morning, and for a few moments I thought I was listening to a Dark Star a la 1969. Good stuff.

What up, jiku?

I'd ask for a copy of that further show, but I doubt you will be back to read this for at least a few months. hehe Good to see you poke your head once in awhile, bruddah.

The Further show we caught awhile back sure shivered me timbers. The guy playing lead seems like a nice enough fellow. (Competent, too.) However, most of the magic for me came from the Phil/Bobby/J Chementi (keys) interactions and contributions for some reason.
