Has anyone had any luck cloning a Mimosa hostilis plant by cuttings (or any other method)? I've heard it's difficult, but I'd like to make couple clones of mine. Any advice appreciated.

I haven't heard of anyone doing it successfully by any method, but have you considered air-layering? Sometimes this works for woody plants that are otherwise difficult to clone.

I have heard Acacias are close to impossible to root from cuttings.

They are easy from seed.  The same might hold true for Mimosa spp.

I think most legumes are grown from seed.  I have yet to hear about one that can only be grown vegetatively.
