So far, all my salvia trips have involved very strong cactus motifs and sometimes deserts. I have read other trip reports referring to cacti, and have seen salvia-inspired art with cacti in the scene. I expected my plant ally to show something more salvian, like the plant itself or even more tropical rather than desert scenery. Any ideas why a leafy ally refers to brother cactus? Any other reports?

They seemed pretty separate to me.  Salvia tended to have predominant "mexican" motifs, with a few exceptions.  Cacti were very much Huichol in visions, for me.   Just my experiences...

Africa: It sounds like you have what we might call "pre-concieved expectations" of the experience in question.

One question: Who responsible for planning lessons, the student or teacher?

Lost my boots in transit, babe,
smokin\' pile of leather.
Nailed a retread to my feet
and prayed for better weather...

Yes Africa, something of the Cacti kind may have seeded your visions.
I usually get Salvia-like vine or tree visions on SD, but to each his/her own.

That's the curious thing, laughingwillow. I fully expect and accept that the subconscious may "plan" the lesson. My problem is that I knew that salvia came from a more temperate environment (it is not a desert plant). Yes, I know about Peyote and San Pedro. But I also know about Ibogain and mushrooms. Salvia is the only consciousness-enhancing substance I have ever taken, so it can't be based on experience. I thought that it may have been a random selection the first time, but it recurred all the following times. So I started looking around on the Internet and found other salvia experiences that included cactii, including art. So it's not just me either. I suppose it could be coincidence, given a large enough sample, but it is still curious to me. Are the two allies friends?
