Hi everyone! I am happy to be a new member here and will try and contribute as I have time.
I do want you to know that the 3rd International Amazonian Shamanism Conference will be held in Iquitos, Peru on July 7th-14th, 2007
I love those numbers!

We want you to know that the website for the Conference now contains almost half the information, lots of presenters and curanderos (shamans), etc. There's lots more to put up but what is up now is definitely worth a look see.

The ticket prices from Lima to Iquitos, if bought soon, are only 47-55 dollars each way. If you want till late May-June to buy them, they will cost from 90 to 115 dollars. Of course that's pretty similar with the international flights as well. The sooner you book, the cheaper the rates.

Reservations are coming in now so we are very much looking forward to seeing everyone here again!

We're discovered some really amazing shamans and will be adding them to the list of curanderos on the website: www.soga-del-alma.org
One is an MD as well as a curandero, Dr. Jose Cabanillos. Another is Javier Arevalo, a Shipibo-curandero. There are a few more new ones to be posted on the site as well. We're just waiting on the photo and bios.
This 3rd Conference is shaping up very nicely so we hope to see many of you down here!

Just a reminder:
The Conference dates are July 7th - 14th
The Presentations begin at 2pm and end at 11pm
Dinner is served at 5:30pm - 7pm
The Conference Presentations are on the following days:
July 7th and 8th
July 10th and 11th
July 13th and 14th

These dates open for eveyone to experience the sights and sounds of Iquitos and surroundings, as well as participate in Ceremony with the Curandero (a) of your choice:

July 9th, 12th and 15th.

So although the Conference is technically over on the 14th of July at 11pm, there will be Ceremonies on the 15th of July.

I mention this because many are booking internal peruvian flights now and I want everyone to know that there is a final Ceremony on the 15th, so best is to book your onward flights on July 16th or 17th, depending.

It's all looking very good here, coming together nicely!

Many have signed up to stay in the maloca chapel of Soga Del Alma and I just wanted to remind everyone that last year we had about 20 people staying there and expect 20 or more this year as well. we'll be putting in another bathroom.
the grounds of the Chapel are flat and beautifully manicured grass. If you want, bring a mosquito net tent so you can lay there and look at the stars and have a lightweight tarp that you can put up in case of rain.
Those staying in the maloca should also bring their own sleeping pads. Airmattresses are the best, they stay really cool. For something like 5 -6 dollars you can buy a foam mattress here in Iquitos (if you don't want to carry your thermarest down here and don't want the expense of buying one). We have an activated charcoal filter on the faucet in the kitchen and the water is from our well, 15 meters deep. That's pumped to the holding tank and supplies the bathroom toilet, shower and sink as well as the kitchen. We supply a boat that takes you to the Chapel and back across the Rio Itaya to Iquitos. Takes about 10 minutes each way. There is no charge for staying in the maloca or on the grounds in a tent. However, we do have a family living in a small house beside the Chapel. They are the guardians, they cut the grass, they clean the maloca. so after your stay in the maloca, please tip them according to your own feelings. Thanks.

We found an amazing travel agency in the States, best prices on tickets we have ever seen. www.latinescapes.com But just book it round trip to Lima, not to Iquitos. If you book the Iquitos round trip they charge way too much for that.
We can help you with the Lima/Iquitos round trip. Right now it is running around 120 dollars round trip.
Just so you know.
