We have deer where i live, and they eat everything except a few things and one of them is a large shrub. What has me remembering this plant so much is it lokos like marijiuana! i giagantic shrub of pot! but it has flowers that bloom from it either yellow or purple. After researching it looks similar to Sinicuichi. what shoudl i do? go take a picture of it or just go pick some and smoke it lol. does anyone have any experience with this plant, Sinicuichi. It looks just like the pics i see of it from google but does it get huge like a shrub?  this shrub is HUGE taller than me or as tall as (im over 6 foot).

I say you go back to our roots.  When shaman were walking around wondering what to smoke they didn't have any idea about anything.  Neither should you.  I say you go ahead and smoke it proudly without confirmation.  If you die well then it was a good death!

First off, Sinuichi is the dried leaf and not the plant.  The plant is Hemia Salicfolia.  Second, The plant can get quite large, but the leaves look nothing like marijuana and Hemia has small yellow flowers and ribbed small seed pods the size of a whole black pepper seed.  If you would like, I can email you a up close photo of one of my plants as the gallery here is not working for me.

Don't accept the pict.  Dry the leaves in the oven and smoke them at once, it was your destiny!

First off, if it is indeed Hemia, do not dry the leaves in an oven, instead let them wilt on the cut branches and then take those leaves and strip them from their stems.  Then put the leaves in some water and set it out in the sun for about eight hours or so to slowly steep.  Then good luck if ya can drink it!  Most bitter thing I ever knew of!!!  Or let the leaves dry for a day or two in a dry place, but not the oven and then smoke.  My friend says it is a very harsh smoke and he is a smoker.  I will send the pic to ya Jus407.  Hemia will also start new plants at the base and the roots, yes.  Popular as a landscape plant, that I do not know about, I have a small nursery with my buisness partner and we have hundreds of these plants, yet most people (98%) do not know what it is nor take a second glance at them. But then again we are in Cajun territory.

I realize that there is a right and a wrong way of doing things and all...and i'm sure letting them dry your way better, but what can't he dry them in the oven for a little instant gratification?

Stronger Effects!!! Hehe :D   Plus drying them in the oven sometimes will make poor leaf matter just that, leaf that does not matter.4

So if he really didn't want to wait, and since he has a HUGE bush of them in his lawn...he could dry a few leaves in the oven to get a feel for the effects, before fully swan diving into the unknown (plus it would help ease the wait period).

That's what I would do at least....of course I would have picked the leaves before comfirming they were right also.  I guess I must have a free spirit :-) or perhaps a death wish

I have a few hiemia bushes in my yard that I grew from seed. I also see lots of weeds that look very similar. Sometimes the only way to be sure is look at the flowers because it may have been from seeds dropped by my plants or it may have been the weed. You can't tell just from the leaves.

i agree with stoney, pulled weeds form around my heimia manytimes, identicle except for a slight black verrigation of the l;eaves and the gre way too fat! the fl;owers were not similar either... i even let them grow to see if it was heimia.. just one example of an easy mistake to make... use your best judgement on this..personally, never had any effect from heimia, smoked or drank... may try again with more quantity sometime..will see..disgusting brew

Very nasty taste and that is why I would do not do it this way, but each to their own.  Personally I would prefer Sally, but that is not the topic here.  By the way I sent ya an email Jus407 with some phots and what not.  Hope it helps, and if it doesn't there is always Hyakitaki's way.
