Normally I would stray from speaking of ingesting things, but since the subject is 100& legal I feel comfortable inquiring about it.

I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with this plant. I have made a tea from it two or three times and only one of the times got something out of it(quite mild though). I have a pretty large bush of it in my green house but I am not sure what would be the best way to prepare it.

I was also wondering if anyone had tried the other Heimias and what the differences were in potency.

all i can say is to try erowid.com it gives good reviews and ok preperation methods

I allways found it best to brew it in the sun.
Put your desired dose of herb into pure water(spring water),
Next put the whole shabang in a wide glass bowl
cover the bowl with a pane of glass or something
then put the bastard in the sun
it's best to give it a full day's sun.
after the sun has set it's ready. When your ready to dose, drinker down and smoke a fat doobie of sun opener leaves and flowers.
This has always worked for me.

I've grown this plant for a long time, but never ingested yet. I've often wondered if there is any difference between the green foliage and the yellow flowers, in terms of psychoactivity??? Do you know, SlickNick?

My plants flower profusely in season.

Im sure there is to some extent.
both in a chemical sence and an energetic one..
however, I have never messed around too much with the ratio's
If it is flowering, The highest frequencys are in the  flowers as well as the highest concentrations of active chemicals. When she's not in flower the leaves have the power..  I have allways mixed the present leaves with the current flowers while in bloom.. I would like to know what the leaves are like alone, right before and during bloom?....

I also have a large plant but have never tasted.

Good info!

What are the effects like for you?

Anyone ever tried Heima myrtifolia?  I have one of those two ... One has smaller leaves, but I forget which one, anyone know?

I'm not sure about psychoactivity per se, but I used it to great effect as an analgesic to treat caffeine withdrawal migraines without suffering the muscle cramps many users of dry foliage tea have reported on erowid reports and various forums.  I used H. myticifolia (identical except for slightly smaller leaves), leaves wilted in the sun, then brewed up in sun tea, reduced to a thick syrup and finally dried out and rolled into little pills/balls.  I don't recall exact doses and didn't really measure them at the time, but balls around the size of small peas did the trick and worked wonders where advil and asprin could hardly put a dent in the pain.   IIRC,  I got the idea of using it as an analgesic from a Journal of Ethnopharmacology article.
