Anyone hip to this trip? Sun Ra was a jazz genius with roots in 30s swing and spirit out in space. In the 50s he was playing what turned into free jazz with his big band. And even though he left this planet quite a few years back his acolytes continue with his mission.

I saw a performance of the Arkestra on BETJ's Live from the Knitting factory series and was profoundly moved.

"If you find earth boring, the same old same thing, join us in Spaceways Incorporated"

I think that was the chant left the building with.
a group of us, on peyote, had little to share with a group on marijuana

the marijuana smokers were discussing questions of the utmost profundity and we were sticking our fingers in our navels & giggling

Sun Ra was somethin else alright. If you saw him perform, there was no doubt that the man was a firm believer that other worlds were responsible for bringing him to earth.

We used to play Nuclear War just to rope in sweet young minds, and after that...the sky's the limit.

hey there jrl and indra
