Salvia plant cuttings question

I first found salvia about 5 or 6 months ago and have finnaly found someone i was willing to buy 2 plants form when i get them both plants are dieng form over watering cause they sat in very moist almost wet dirt and no light for 5 or 6 days in the mail and when i open them up i notice each plant has two main stems for each plant and on one of the stems for one plant is completely dead almost about to fall off so i jsut spare her the misery and pick the dead stem but now the other side of the plant is startingto produce leaves already much more than the other plant ive only had the plant for 4 or 5 days so its not gropwn much at all but its noticable changed from when i first had it. but because the stem was dead i decided to try to have my first experience with lady salvia, i didnt feel spirits or a message but i felt GREAT i felt good like i could take on anything almost it was short term happiness but today 4 or 5 days later i feel good not depressed or sad about anything which i have concluded to be from salvia through research but my queston is did i not experience anything deeper because the leaves were over waters when shipped and the extra water in the soil cause the stems to get over soaked causeing the salvinorin from the leaves to be washed out? i mean i smoked an intire joint of the leaves it was enough to roll a joint with my cigarette roller or are the plain leaves just that weak because that much leaves i would have expected something alteast, and sorry for my bad typing i caint seem to hit the right keys and im correcting every other word i type. i have an ounce of salvia from mexico oxicottan or whatever being shipped to me so by next week i should be able to update my experiences. how much do you have to smoke of regular leaves to get a message?
edit: and how big do you let your leaves get before cutting or do you jsut let them fall off, because some of my leaves are wilting very bad soem leves are completely curled up its curled up comlpetely around the stem that goes through the leave ( they are rolled like cigarettes almost there somewhat long 2 or so inches and rolled like a tube) should i pick those? Hope this all makes sence im sorta sleep deprived i could go to sleep last night.
