Questions about my first experience with Salvia.

Salvia is the first "recreational" drug I have tried.

I bought 1/2oz of dried leaves online. I fashioned myself a Sobe bong (pounded in the metal cap, made holes in it, then made a hole in the bottom of the glass). I filled if with water, then put a pinch of salvia in the bowl. I left the lighter flame on it the entire time the water was draining.

The bottle was filled with a thick smoke. I breathed in about half and held it in maybe 15-25 seconds (i can't hold my breath very long). I did the same for the other half. I still wasn't feeling anything so I repeated this whole procedure 2 more times. I still didn't feel anything so I used it as a pipe, sucking on the hole on the bottom and not filling it with any water. I still thought I had felt nothing.

When I looked up, it felt like my eyes kept jumping around. If I stared at an object, my eyes would jump around slightly insead of focusing on it. Then I got up and tried to move around. It felt like I was in a dream, except everything was the same. Some thing felt different when I walked-maybe it felt like I was gliding a tiny bit. Also, my coordination was slightly off becuase it took 2 tries to pick up my lighter.

And that's basically it. I went to bed right after cleaning up all my supplies.

Is it normal for the first experience to be so mild? A friend told me that the very first time he tried smoking it, he couldn't feel anything. He said it took 2 or 3 times before he could really start feeling it.

I tend to be very pessimistic, and I was pretty sure I was one of the people who are really insensitive to salvia. I was glad to even get to level one on the 'salvia' scale. I haven't tried it a second time, yet.

Is there something I did wrong? Is there a step I forgot? Or am I just going to have to buy the expensive extracts in order to feel anything beyond 'subtle' effects?

You could try the extract, but salvia has a reverse tollerance that will treat you very well.

I've been with a lot of people that get the same effects you got.  The more you smoke it the more it will effect you though, so if you stick with the leaves like 3 more times....well let's just say you will hit such an intense experiance that you won't want it to be so intense.

The best way to smoke salvia is out of a water bong (one with a huge bowl and chamber preferably).

I guess if you want to jump strait to the full salvia experiance you could buy the extract....but if you stick with the leaves you will get it also.  I would like to get one thing strait though this is in no way a recreational drug.  It strips you of your ego and for me it gives me mass amnesia so I can't even remember anything at all.  By anything I mean you know that i'm human or that I have mass, you know just the most important things that you always remember.

Salvia is the most intense drug i've ever done sir, it's not the best for beginners...Then again I can't compare it to any other drug i've ever done because it's so different.

So I guess to sum this whole thing up my advice to you is take huge hits out of a water bong and hold them.  Do this for a while and the reverse tollerance will take you into it's loving arms.....still dude you aren't going to like the full effects I can almost guarantee this to you judging on what you said in your post.  I want you to try and not be pesimistic if you do it more, try to open your mind and learn from what it does to you.

P.S. If you don't understand what i'm talking about, you probibly will once you reach peak effects.  It's hard for me to smoke Salvia because it scares  to incredible lengths, but when I can get myself to do it...I never regret it.

Thanks for the reply and the tips. I'll keep trying the leaves... I suppose if that still doesn't work I'll try to "break through" using an extract, then switch back to leaves.

Is there anything I can do to prepare for a trip? Do I need to be in a certain state of mind, and what should my surroundings be like (light/no light, music, etc...)?

To prepare for a trip you should make sure that you have a sitter firstly.  Once that is done make a spot that is comfortable for you to sit in (because you wont be moving much if at all once it hits you).

I've heard that no lights and no music is the best way to experiance it.

Frankly i've never done it with music and the lights were always on for me.  I couldn't imagine what it would be like without the lights on....might be fun, dunno.

I watched TV on it once, it was an episode of Family Guy actually.  I was so messed up I actually thought the Family Guy characters were in the room with me.....ya television can be fun, but make sure you have the right show on.

To prepare for it you should try not to be tense, try to relax.  I've heard meditation is good prior to get your mind into a very open to anything kind of state.  I don't really know how to meditate though so ussually it just hits me like a ton of bricks and I just am consumed by it.

So in conclusion do these things:

1. Get a sitter
2. Remove sharp or harmfull objects from your space
3. Make a comfortable spot to sit in
4. Music supposidly is bad for the trip so I dunno you can play it if you want... I don't really see anything bad with it from my experiance
5. Lights off is beter i've heard... still though i've only done it with the lights on and it was pretty spectacular.
6. An open mindset ready for anything, perhaps brought on by meditation (if you know how, I know I don't hahahahaah).
7. After the trip look back on and it analyze it...look at what you can learn from it.

"It felt like I was in a dream, except everything was the same."  Just wait until it really occurs to you - you are - it is the same.
...and as if from the inception of time itself I realized I was and had been for sometime, elsewhere, elsewhen or somehow, quite seriously, otherwise...
