Hi folks,

I'm not often called to arms in this way but..well SPF is the best forum i've come across..it has a great selection of people with all sorts of knowledge.  It is a forum where a newbie can feel welcomed and treated well and where information is generally top quality.

I mean have you seen some of the other forums out there,...after being a member of SPF for a few years now if you browse around another forum it almost makes me choke!!!  Theres so much nonsense out there we need a place like this for our own sanity!

So, theres been some recent hicups in regarsd to new forums etc.  Especially on the case of a cannabis forum and a experience forum.  I hear a few people have threatened to leave over it, well thats your loss if you do but what a fantastic resouce you will be loosing.  Instead I suggest you stay and discuss the various reasons why you may be unhappy with changes and lets get sometyhing drafted out.

The old forum setup was good, it had evolved over time and it worked.  Lets keep it that way for now and we can discuss the addition of others in good time.

All mods are called to arms lol, discuss with your fellow members what they want to see and why, take on board any concerns.  You are the representatives aswell as rulers.

Lets not loose SPF, we may have lost the old posts but we still have some damn fine people here so lets keep it together!

Please use the rest of this thread to start drafting out and conferring with each other over issues any of you may have.

As part of this discussion does anyone have any issues with the other forums which have been re-instated from the old spf?
I was moderator of cactus ID and suggested the idea that cactus could be in one forum rather than have separate sections for ID and cultivation as we used to. Does anyone have any objections to this?
It means i do not have my forum anymore, coz jiku can manage it and since no-one objected to the post where i asked for the longhouse instead, cenny acted on that.
The old forums in the list in my previous post were taken straight from the old board and all their moderators are here, which is pretty cool.
As i said there, the mods had only recently been updated at spf so we already have an active moderating team, to which xtorris and stonehenge have been added, replacing ringworm and dissident.
This is why i feel it is a good start to re-instate the old forums as cenny has been doing.
But that doesnt mean we cant change them if, through discussion, we reach some other position.
I feel that these contoversial issues, viz. the experiences forum and the cannabis (now ex) forum require a lot of talking through and i thank bushpig for opening this thread.
Lets give it all the time it needs ...

OK, with the cactus forum thats down to the mods and the feedback.   If there's not huge objection then go with it and make it one forum.  Why not post on it in the cactus forum, get some discussion on it and go from there.

I don't have any specific gripes with any of the forums.....  but my general gripe is that there seems to be too many.  What do we have here- 19 different categories here?  Just seems too busy-  I think that we could prolly do without about half of them.

Or maybe it's just that there isn't much organization?  It just seems that I look at that list and I'm like "Whoa- what was I looking for again?"

I agree. The ammount of forums is beginning to go overboard.
I say 10 max. 5 Plant ones 5 Discussion ones.

Soo.. We need to prune off 9 forums. :)
