The proof of SD befing used traditional are week, but your argument isnt any stronger either. Most information was loost both to us and to the naitives at the time of the spanish invasion and the little left was partly replaced and mixed with christian culture. Hence it is hard to say anything.

But looking at one of your argument, being that the indians do not smoke the herb we can say that is is caused by one or several of the following reasons.

   1) They do not have "full knowledge" but I have had it sometime.
   2) They do not have "full knowledge" and havent had it anytime.
   3) They do have "full knowledge" but choose not to smoke it.

You argue that 2) is the case, and even that the fact that they do not smoke gives the other part. But I do not quite beliave it. If they herb was mixed in modern time and never smoked I do not think its special powers would be found. Its quite hard to get the effect chewing it even if you know the thing you seek.

It seems to me more likely that the old culture did use it and smoked it and probably found the effect this way. Probably they tried smoking a lot of different herbs as a way to investigate and broaden their plant knowledge. But at the culture death only a small part survived of this tradition and mixed with the spanish culture. This being the eating and the christian name indication.

I never stated that they did not smoke it. I said that the modern peoples(of Mexico) ingested it orally. Like when Hoffman waz exposed to the method of their useage.

I know my argument iz not, "any stronger." That waz me point. Their argument that S.d. iz "pipiltzintzintli" iz weak. Yet, it iz seemingly accepted by many as fact. There iz no fact supporting such claimz.

Tha fact that my "theory" iz not any stronger than their'z - makez it just az strong az their'z.

Yet, I am somehow attracted to me own "theory" over their'z. It seemz more probable than their'z.

IF S.d. iz tha ancient plant depicted in tha Mayan codices, one would expect to find S.d. in more locations across Mexico. In 500+ years that have passed, it seemz likely that tha plant should have been dispersed by natural means - like other plantz have been spread. It haz not been seen.

True, we have no way of knowing what haz been lost since the Conquest. Yet, thiz iz tha stuff dreamz are made.
