So this is where the ego goes to die a horrible agonizing rebirth.

Gezz, I couldn't make it through all the guys crazy copyright notices.
...and as if from the inception of time itself I realized I was and had been for sometime, elsewhere, elsewhen or somehow, quite seriously, otherwise...

I made it through his copyright declaration AND through the first couple of entries after....   I get the idea that it might make for a compilation of some moderately decent reading, though personally. I don't agree or believe in his basic premises....    (if that sounds convoluted, just read more deeply into the guys postings) --------- senorsal

Yeah pretty strange, but apparently he has "figured it all out"
a group of us, on peyote, had little to share with a group on marijuana

the marijuana smokers were discussing questions of the utmost profundity and we were sticking our fingers in our navels & giggling

Some of the stuff in "Theory of Mystic-State Allusions in Rock Lyrics" was interesting.  He gets a little wrapped up in Rush for my tastes - although there was that time on salvia when this song on the radio clearly rang out, "the words of the profits are written on the concert halls"  The play on the words profits / prophet, dual meaning, and taking from past music expressions (Simon & Garfunkel's Sound of Silence) certainly came into play.  In relation to other entheogenic/music experiences, and certainly live shows, this was a minor trip down the rabbit hole.

But I think as we have discussed before, some other bands seemed to have carried a "heavier" burden in psychedelic religiosity.

"We trip hard so you don't have to"

I think I might agree with his basic premise...ifn I could figure out what it is.  Despite his pronunciations as such, he isn't a very clear writer.

It doesn't seem too much different that the "Wasson Theory" that i see in my brief review of egodeath.com.  http://www.metahistory.org/lexicon_W.php

* The term "psychedelic religiosity" and all related theory developing from that term is hereby patented by me.

Inspired by ’the spirit of radio’ in toronto.
Words by neil peart, music by geddy lee and alex lifeson
Lyricsfreak.com

Begin the day
With a friendly voice
A companion, unobtrusive
Plays that song that’s so elusive
And the magic music makes your morning mood

Off on your way
Hit the open road
There is magic at your fingers
For the spirit ever lingers
Undemanding contact
In your happy solitude

Invisible airwaves
Crackle with life
Bright antennae bristle
With the energy
Emotional feedback
On a timeless wavelength
Bearing a gift beyond price ---
Almost free...

All this machinery
Making modern music
Can still be open-hearted
Not so coldly charted
It’s really just a question
Of your honesty

One likes to believe
In the freedom of music
But glittering prizes
And endless compromises
Shatter the illusion
Of integrity

For the words of the profits
Are written on the studio wall,
Concert hall ---
Echoes with the sounds...
Of salesmen.

How ironic. Dudes should look in the mirror

Gotta be my least favorite band.

(note to geddy: you play BASS, get some lows)

Complexity is sometimes a substitute for substance

I know I am gonna take some heat on this one

Rush always seemed to me to be a band that stressed thier energy and arragement capabilities over the actual content and spirit ...  Vapid manipulators of the uninspired masses.  Think geddy could sing????   Try a listen to David Surcamp, of Pavlovs' Dog.....   Rush equals the epitomy of pomp and posturing......................   Damn!!!   Guess I just got triggered to unload the loathing I have for certain artists.....   ' Course, to each their own 8) --------------  senorsal
