On this week's show:

*New Rock Album*: Band of Joy, *Band of Joy* (2010) . . . I overlooked this album upon its release, but some recent listening to Led Zeppelin led me back to it . . . wow, such a treasure . . . Plant collaborates with Patty Griffin & Buddy Miller, among others, to create a Zep-ishly-spooky-at-times Americana trove of old covers & traditional tunes . . . Plant is still chasing his muse, both in full flower, & the paths ever more varied, strange, & wonderful . . .

*Classic Rock Album*: Tages, *Studio* (1967) . . . You would not know this band is from Sweden, so artfully do they create this mid-Beatles-era record . . . & they do it well, with all manner of pretty harmonies & trippy flourishes . . . there seems no end to the brilliant but forgotten bands of those years, dig a little deeper, more shine to find . . .

*Storybook Time*: Chapter 9 of *The Acid Diaries: A Psychonaut's Guide to the History & Use of LSD* by Christopher Gray. . .

*Readings from *Labyrinthine* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems . . . & this week's featured artists are some of those to be found on the delightful *More Oar: A Tribute to Alexander "Skip" Spence* from 1999 . . . here is the first show of 2013, closing in on 14 years of doing this show, still the flutters, still the delights . . .

On this week's show:

*New Rock Album*: Robbers on High Street, *Hey There Golden Hair* (2011) . . . These Brooklyn boys knows how to spin out tunes made of the strangest luring sugar, songs surreal to the touch, but toe-tappy as all . . . another indie rock success for Brooklyn USA . . .

*Classic Rock Album*: Yes, *Relayer* (1974) . . . Despite the absence of Rick Wakeman, replaced by Patrick Moraz, Yes beautifully churns out three epic pieces, a little mad, a little sweet, a lot of good rocking and rolling . . . this is prog rock in its first glories . . .

*Storybook Time*: Continuing Chapter 9 of *The Acid Diaries: A Psychonaut's Guide to the History & Use of LSD* by Christopher Gray. . .

*Readings from *Labyrinthine* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems . . . & this week's featured artists are more of those to be found on the delightful *More Oar: A Tribute to Alexander "Skip" Spence* from 1999 . . . this broadcast completes the 14th year of this show . . . how much of the world has come & gone & changed in that time . . . anniversary episode next time around!

On this week's 14th anniversary show:

* Featured Rock Album: Harry Chapin, *Dance Band on the Titanic* (1977) . . . This was Harry Chapin's seventh studio album, a double-album, like a great grand building of songs . . . stories of disintegrating relationships, lonely souls of many kinds, struggling to survive, prosper, understand . . . When I was 17, & my idols were Harry & Billy Joel, this was an album I listened to many, many times . . . listening to it even now brings me back years & miles to those hours . . . yet now I see more into this music, the ways in which Chapin's artistry integrated his own life's struggles into the stories he sang . . . he was famous, yet fame could taste metallic . . . yet he strived to do all he could to shape musical meaning & comfort from mortal chaos . . . it's his late masterpiece, & worth your time . . .

*Storybook Time*: Chapter 10 of *The Acid Diaries: A Psychonaut's Guide to the History & Use of LSD* by Christopher Gray. . .

* Readings from *Labyrinthine* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems . . . so this is my show's 14th anniversary broadcast, & it is a marvel to have reached such a milestone . . . reassuring that the task each time is the same, & I know the tools & the path to complete it . . . & I do so with gratefulness for these lovely hours spent . . .
