Does Anyone Quarantine Their New Plants?

I'm just curious if any of you set aside your new garden additions, before mixing them in to your established gardens. The idea being, of course, to prevent the introduction of any diseases or beasties into your garden. This is something I've wondered about for a long time.  

Is this anyone's standard operating procedure? Do commercial or large-scale growers do this?

Have you found quarantining to be effective in reducing/preventing pests?

I try to do that. I always look a new plant over to see if it has any critters and spray it with safers if it does. Outdoors you dont have to worry as much because there are lots of natural enemies.
