I have a 3-4 foot tall spindly Caapi vine and because of where I live I will have to take it in for the winter and to keep it healthy I was planing on cutting back a bit.
I don't want the left over bits to go to waste and I would like to have more plants.

Has anyone taken cuttings from this plant before? any tips?

They are easy to clone. Just use the thickest pieces of stem and you want at least 1 node but 2 or more is better. Trim off the leaves and put 1 node under damp soil. If you see little growing tips already started from the node then leave those. If you only have 1 node then keep it shallow so that roots and growing shoots both can emerge. Alternately, you can keep the stem pieces in damp moss or other damp material until it roots. Light is not required and too bright light will stress it. After the growing shoots come up indirect light is fine. Save the full sun until they get big and get used to it.

I agree that caapi is easy to clone. Just take the thickest piece of stem you have, stick it in soil, and keep it moist. It can take a little while (a couple of weeks), so be patient.

Make sure that it is woody or wood about the size of a pencil  if you just stick it in the ground.

I took a bunch of cuttings and put them in a heated incubator and 2 of them are growing roots already. seems caapi is about as easy as chacruna to make cuttings of.

An update to the last post:

I have some of those rooted cuttings(now in dirt) sitting in my window sill,  showing signs of new growth.
