Quote from: "The Huffington Post"The High Court ruled Thursday that record label EMI Group Ltd. can't sell Pink Floyd tracks individually without the band's permission.
I'm all for proper royalties being awarded duly but, where is the freedom in only being able to buy an album? Would I only buy 'Money' from Dark Side of the moon? No, but its the principle in my opinion. If I don't want to buy a full Kit Kat they have Kit Kat singles for sale.

Syd, I think the key words here are "without the bands permission"
call me a mothereffing old fogey if you want and I am sure I will get called that, but I think the creators of the art should  have the choice in cases like that.
Or tell me why any one is gonna spend the million dollars it takes to make a record like Dark Side of the Moon?
a group of us, on peyote, had little to share with a group on marijuana

the marijuana smokers were discussing questions of the utmost profundity and we were sticking our fingers in our navels & giggling

Hey 'old fogey', would you rather no one buy your album or 1000 people buy one track? I also think that allowing singles to be sold will broaden said artists fan base. There will be people who buy the album and then their will be people who buy singles as well. Also, do you think Pink Floyd really made Dark Side of the Moon, just for the money? I could be wrong, I don't know all the lyrics. On a side note, I bought the whole album.

JRL

They made Dark Side of the Moon because they could, that's what they do! But 'hos gotta eat no?

It doesn't matter what I think about selling singles, it's Pink's call. BTW which one is Pink?

I think it should be pink's call but it would also depend on what kind of contract they had. I think they would be smarter to allow singles to be sold like syd said but there is no law you have to do the smart thing. I also think they should allow internet downloads for a small price, maybe a few years after the release or something instead of trying to extort every penny and suing kids and their families.
