Hello, I figured since I was new I would introduce myself.
I live New England  and have been growing plants for about 6 years now.  My interest started when I got a job working on a food farm and since then I have also worked in nurseries and done landscaping. It's not easy to grow most of the tropical plants here in new england because it is pretty cold most of the year, but I still grow as many as I can get the seeds for.

The plants I am growing right now are:
Cebil
San Pedro
Brugmansias(a bunch of types)
Sinicuichi
Nicotiana glauca
Passion flower
and I just planted some Chacruna and Caapi seeds
(aswell I grow a lot of non-interesting food plants)

when it becomes the right time of year I also grow:
Datura
Poppies(mostly California)
Hairloom Morning Glories
and Nicotiana  Rustica

There are a lot of plants I would like to grow but can't seem to find anywhere(or when I find them I can't afford them)
the plats I hope to grow are: E. Novo, Chaliponga, Virola, Salvia D. and Yopo.(if anyone knows where to get these let me know)

I guess that would depend of which side of the mushroom I eat  :cool2

hello, alice.
welcome to spirit plants. good to hear you're keeping it green in a cold place. Are you hot-housing?

AliceTepes

no, unfortunately I only have use of a summer greenhouse so all my perennials get pulled into the house or the basement(if they don't mind going dormant) I have grow lights and a few sunny windows(one of which is entirely covered by a 7 foot brugmansia that I have not had the heart to cut back lol)

hello alice,

i see you will be in 3D soon!  :D

AliceTepes

Yeah I hope that ends up being a good movie. I have mixed feelings about depp being the Mad Hatter and I hope Burton does not mess it up as bad as he did on Willy Wonka. the 3D should be nice though( I am guessing it will be pretty trippy)

I liked his Willy Wonka a lot. But it did get mixed reviews. He brings his own vision to films, that's for sure, and I do admire that.

We get to see this movie this weekend, while visiting Seattle, where we used to live, in 3D on their Science Center IMAX screen. HUGE! It was just coincidence we're even up there this weekend. Saw many good ones at that IMAX along the way. The IMAX here in Portland isn't nearly as impressive.

Anyway, the Alice story has been retold in so many ways, I think of this as not the definitive telling but more like the next one. I remember one in the 80s called Dream Child which I liked alot. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089052/) And there's one by Jan Svankmajer that was nutty! (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0095715/). And the recent SciFi series.

Somewhere in my book collection I even have a copy of the original facsimile, published in book form some years ago :)

Goes on and on :P

AliceTepes

yeah I saw the Czech one(I loved the use of dead taxidermied animals and dolls in it)
my favorites are the british made one(s) //http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0167758/

and of course the Disney one

I didn't really favor what sci fi did with it( I thought it was kinda bland) but I loved how they made a sci fi version of The Wizard of Oz called Tinman. that was really really good.
