Since this is a site issue, i am moving the discussion to there ...
Upon consideration i think the rainforest is for other entheogens: b.caapi, mimosa, acacias, rue, phalaris, psychotria, anandanthera, cannabis etc etc
Salvia, cactus and shrooms have their own sections and all other plants belong in the garden.
How does that sound as a way to use the forum?

Cassie, I started the thread in the long house because canacle suggested that. No problem, here is fine. Are you an admin now too? You wrote:

So rain forest is for "other entheogens" and the garden for "all other plants"? That makes both of them catch all. Any given plant could be logically discussed in either forum unless it was a cactus, succulent or salvia. That's how it is now. I was thinking either combine the two into one forum or make the garden for edibles and the other for shamanistic plants. At least that makes some sense. The average person would know which goes where. That's not the case now. I suggest combining the two and calling them "green world" or something. We have had little or no discussion of edibles so far so combining the two might be most logical.

Who's moderating the rain forest? Didn't see anyone's name under it.

Was it ringworm who used to mod that forum? I can't remember.

ah, i am with you now stoney and i agree
in fact, 'the rainforest' was a group title, i think, and is somewhat redundant since , as you suggest, 'the garden' covers all the others (altho, as you also say) another name night be better.
So, for now .. shall we agree to remove the rainforest and shift its posts to 'the garden'??
then maybe start a thread to choose a name

Cassie, that sounds good, that'll work. We can combine the two into the garden and if we want to change the name, we can talk about that.

As I recall, there were lots of subforums at the old spf. I believe rain forest was divided up into others. I didn't like the subforum system too much. It meant you couldn't see all forums from the main page and see which ones had posts.

i am not sure about this at all now...
it could be good to have 'the rainforest' for 'the teaching plants of the forests and green lands' .. and have 'the garden' for all the everyday plants one grows at home, cept the garden never got many posts at all, even with wyrm as the moderator ...
so stoney: if we left the rainforest in  would you prefer to moderate that (as its shamanic plants) and let someone else have the common back yard 'garden' ?
I am really in 2 minds about this, as it does seem sensible to have common garden plants in a separate forum to the teaching plants ....
but i am sure that sub-forums are a bad idea.

That sounds fine with me, Cassie. That was more or less one of the suggestions I floated to see if there was any interest. Right now there aren't a huge number of posts to be divided up and most are of the shamanic plants but there are others too. I happen to be growing rosea rhodiola which is not an entheogen but is said to be very good for the health. I also grow some pineapple but it's not going that great. I'm sure some of us grow veggies or just want to discuss ornamentals. I have orange and grapefruit/ lemon trees.

I think you should keep the shamanic plants section stoney and we find another gardener to add to the team... here's my suggestion:

Quote from: "byrooon"There was a guy who used to post to the boards years ago who used to do it--Pan--He has a place in history in being the first person busted in Nevada after they made jimsonweed illegal for giving some to some chick and spent a year or two in prison. After release he moved to Florida.

This historic personage is alive and well in the chatroom and, although not much of a post-counter these days, is still very interested in spiritplants.
If he would agree to step into wyrm's shoes and moderate the garden i think it would be great to have him in the team...

...what say you?
