NAMASTE SPIRITPLANTS, finally...

a new film about DMT, called SPIRIT MOLECULE:

http://www.thespiritmolecule.com/%20

A TRAILLER is to be seen there.

Film featured with Graham Hancock, Alex Grey, Dennis McKenna, Erik Davis and many more...

some words by director:

Thank you for visiting The Spirit Molecule website. The interest and support has been exceptional, and truly appreciated by our team.

My journey with the film launched in 2002, five years later production commenced and finally eight years later, I'm pleased to present The Spirit Molecule to the world. This film serves as my poetic interpretation of the elusive, and enigmatic compound, DMT. However, the concepts explored go well beyond psychedelics, and really addresses a new model of consciousness.

During this eight-year journey, we amassed approximately 100 hours of interview footage from brilliant minds around the world, and in early 2011, we will release the entire collection of footage in addition to all original VFX and music. The construction of The Spirit Molecule remix project is underway, and once launched, anyone will have access to the collection to make their own Spirit Molecule film, remix into other media or simply watch the engaging ideas.

I hope you enjoy the film. Thanks again.

Regards,
Mitch Schultz, Director

I was at the opening a few months ago at Alex Grey's CoSM; the filmmaker and Rick Strassman were there to speak. A good time was had by all.

The movie was OK. There was really nothing new in it, but it was fairly well-made.

Cool, lucky you guyZ... to be near Cosmo& Alex Grey...

Don't hesitate to share a bit more about the film - how 'well made' was the film? What is 'good stuff' in it? I take that the film is made like this recent popular genre documenray-film with many interviewees in it (like What the bleep do we know, Secret and many others) so I want to know if this film follows this 'tradition' or does it expand it with some visuals or whatever of that kind...

thx for the comments in advance

ps.: btw - Laffoley was always my number one among the visionary artists, I concidered Grey's (and Alison's) work always a bit of a bombastic baroquian, but I have to admit that Alex does a lot for a promorion of progressive things in this century...have he and Alison fully recovered after the accident? (I've met a women from USA here in Damanhur //http://www.damanhur. and she told me that they were hurt in an accident). He also published a book about this 'intentional community' with a beautiful underground temples...

To elaborate on "good stuff" I liked it overall, some of the  people who were interviewed had really good points, but I was not able to watch it all the way through because I got bored of basically hearing trip reports over and over. I like the science element and I like the religious element, but those only showed up a little in the film.  Also, I dunno who decided to put Joe Rogan in this....... he always seems as if he has fallen on his head a few too many times in life.  I feel like associating Joe Rogan with DMT is not a good idea. It's the sort of public image that we really don't need.

Jenkem would be a better substance for him to represent. it combines all the stupidity of fear factor with drug taking.

It was pretty much what you'd expect: interviews of the "cast of usual characters" (from McKenna, Nichols, Strassman, Grey, etc.) interspersed with trippy visuals. There was a narrator on occasion (the film maker), dressed up like a 50's scientist and in a very retro set, and that was kind of cool/different.

Many of the trippy visuals were made with Electric Sheep, which is an interesting project.

They also interviewed many of the participants of his studies, and I thought that added a lot to the film (let's face it, I may love hearing Dennis M. speak, but there is only so much the experts can say, and it gets a little repetitive). One interesting thing that came out of those interviews: when Strassman interviewed them originally, he was surprised that there weren't more "spiritual" outcomes. But in hooking up with them some 25 years later, it turns out the experiences really did stick with them.

Overall it's definitely worth seeing, but I wouldn't expect it to be really life-changing in any way.

He's been on the Viking Youth Power Hour a few times. Interesting guy!

Thank you guyz,

I think I really got a picture about the film now. Your comments were most helpful.I am interested in film and film theory and film perception for ages already, and all of your opinions sounded very expert-alike.

This for now, I  hope we will soon chat about some other film : )

But for now I would like to post some early female experimental filmmaker from USA, Maya Deren, a total classic, Mashes on the afternoon, 1943
