I haven't tried to be cryptic in this thread. Crystals receive and store energy, imo.  You can charge the stone by holding in your hand, hence the comment they have as much power as you give them. Different stones vibrate at different frequencies. When I hold  crystal in my hand, I can usually feel the subtle energy. If nothing else, crystals are yet another tool (like entheogens) to help focus the mind.  

Btw, we don't like to be labeled, Taoist.
