There are a few shows happening here on da prairie in the next while that will actually entice us out of the house.

Del McCoury's band is in town tonight. Still not sure I'm going because its happening at the Ioway State Fair and that location doesn't do much for me. However, I'm guessing the wife will be there regardless. She's a fan o' da fair AND Del McCoury.

Gillian Welch comes to town Sunday. She and David are playing at Hoyt Sherman, a swanky old theater with great acoustics. We ain't missing this one.  Gillian spins yarns while strumming her 1956 Gibson J-50. David lays down the gospel law on his 1935 Epiphone Olympic arch top.

Burning Spear comes to Omaha Aug 20. Its a Tuesday night so Laura will prolly miss this one, but I'll be der for sure.

Last week the Wailers came to town with their new front man, Elan. Dude sounds just like the late great Bob Marley. I had a great time at that show and it sounds like a copy might just be available...

Last but not least... Phil will be rocking the Riviera in Chicago the first weekend in October. The wife agreed to catching two of the three shows and seemed a little perplexed that I wasn't pushing for all three. (Guess I'm getting old.)

I bought the tix to the first two nights of Phil in Chicago the other day. (Oct 5-6) Da wife didn't need to tell me twice.

Only problem is that the Chicago marathon is being run that weekend and our favorite hotel on Michigan Ave want an arm and leg for rooms.  I'm thinking we might end up staying in the burbs this time around but the wife has faith she'll find something suitable right in da city.

We sure like excuses to get to Chicago....
