As the title says.

I heard an ad on the radio for Dweezil Zappa in concert playing Frank Zappa's music.
I will try for tickets to the show nearby this summer.

Go to:
http://www.zappa.com/cheezoid/

and hit the WN in the lower left to get the page leading to the tour schedule.

Update...  I scored a pair in the front section.  Woot! for on-line ordering.
My first Zappa experience!

I ddn't know squat really about Frank Zappa other than he had a loyal fan base and an enormous body of work and a discipline dwork ethic.

I was pleased I went and got a sampling of the output of this genious and virtuoso.

No sappy tributes or reflective moments, just a good jamming time.

Steve Vai and Terry Bozzio, who joined for the 2nd set, were spectacular.
Napoleon Murphy Brock handled most of the vocal.

I can't provide but maybe 3 songs' titles:

The Black Page
Don't Eat the Yellow Snow
Peaches En Regalia

Otherwise, titles were a mystery to me.
But I enjoyed, albeit maybe less so than the fervent audience members recpaturing days past.  But hey, why pass up the chance?

Dweezil signed autographs to Frank Zappa albums, t-shirts, and hats afterwards - that was a little surprising to see.

And some 10-year old kid named Eric, who was at his first concern, got to go on stage to close the show with Dweezil - that had to be a kick for him.

My friend GW just came back from the Zappa plays Zappa show at the Warfield. He's a zappa fan and was ecstatic. He said in the middle of the show they brought down a vid screen and the band jammed with a clip of Zappa SR. playing a 10 minute guitar solo!! he said it was technicaly seemless, just like he was there.
a group of us, on peyote, had little to share with a group on marijuana

the marijuana smokers were discussing questions of the utmost profundity and we were sticking our fingers in our navels & giggling
