Wonderful World is great song

What about Ripple?
a group of us, on peyote, had little to share with a group on marijuana

the marijuana smokers were discussing questions of the utmost profundity and we were sticking our fingers in our navels & giggling

Ripple is sweet poured over this soul. Thanks jrl.

Just getting into "Oh Happy Day" Edwin Hawkins Singers. They recorded it in a basement - 2 track tape....amazingly beautiful.

Think i'll enter this into the kids' group consciousness at school. It's possible to just shut up and rejoice! Why not remind a few people?

=====================================================================       Notice how some of the sublimely simple stuff seems to seem so complex and unattainable?       Thanx 'fer the reminder to pause 'fer 'da cause,  sistah Judih.......     sal

How about "I'll Take You There" by the Staples Singers?

"I know a place, ain't nobody cryin'
 Ain't nobody worried
 Ain't no smiling faces
 Lyin' to the races"

Sing it Mavis, take me there!!

My favorite Spiritual is a traditiional tune, but it may be hard to find on recording (it's pretty old).

Tra-la-la

...Four bananas, three bananas, two bananas, one
All bananas playing in the bright warm sun
Flipping like a pancake, popping like a cork
Fleagle, Bingo, Droopper and snork...

etc

(this is a song by a young singer/songwriter that my partner KD turned me onto...it's from her recent album "One Moment More"...her other songs are not spirituals but just as good...this song has smooth, high, dangerous, malevolent, sweet moods, by turn...i recommend hearing it as well as reading the lyrics...)

Come To Jesus
by Mindy Smith

Oh, my baby, when you're older
Maybe then you'll understand
You have angels that stands around you shoulders
'Cause at times in life you need a loving hand

Oh, my baby, when you're prayin'
Leave your burden by my door
You have Jesus standing by your bedside
To keep you calm, keep you safe,
Away from harm

Worry not my daughters,
Worry not my sons
Child, when life don't seem worth livin'
Come to Jesus and let Him hold you in His arms

Oh, my baby, when you're cryin'
Never hide your face from me
I've conquered hell and driven out the demons
I have come with a life to set you free

Worry not my daughters,
Worry not my sons
Child, when life don't seem worth livin'
Come to Jesus and let Him hold you in His arms

Oh, oh
Oh, oh
Yeah, yeah, yeah

Oh, my baby, when you're dying
Believe the healing of His hand
Here in Heaven we will wait for your arrival
Here in Heaven you will finally understand
Here in Heaven we will wait for your arrival
Here in Heaven you will finally understand

Worry not my daughters,
Worry not my sons
Child, when life don't seem worth livin'
Come to Jesus and let Him hold you in His arms

Last Train
by Arlo Guthrie

I want to hop on the last train in the station
Won't need to get yourself prepared
When you're on that last train to glory
You'll know you're reasonably there

Maybe you ain't walked on any highway
You've just been flyin' in the air
But if you're on that last train to glory
You'll know you've paid your fare

Maybe you've been Iying down in the jailhouse
Maybe you've been hungry and poor
Maybe your ticket on the last train to glory
Is the stranger whose been sleeping on your floor

I ain't a man of constant sorrow
I ain't seen trouble all day long
We are only passengers on the last train to glory
That will soon be long, long gone

I want to hop on the last train in the station
Won't need to get yourself prepared
When you're on the last train to glory
You'll know you're reasonably there
