So was that a domain squatter, or does the registrar put up that landing page if the domain goes in arrears? My guess is the latter, as with a squatter the site would probably be down permanently.

Still, it's kind of a hokey page for a real registrar!

I'd checked ownership of the site name early on and it appeared Andy never lost the domain name. I'm going with option number two and the automatic trip to funky town when the account goes in arrears.
