I have a strong feeling that Buddhism contains deep wisdom within the practical techniques it teaches practioners.  I consider meditation a powerful personal ally.  That being said, I still feel modern shamanism is most able to blend, absorb, and creatively use the energies of all the various faith based traditions in ways singular religions simply can't.

The Mountain / Astrology/Astronomy to Guide Sessions
February 27, 2009, 11:35:02 AM
Greetings,

I go by veg and am new to this forum, but not new to entheogens or spirituality.  I've been exploring for a number of years and have found meditation to be a powerful "launching pad" for working with plant medicines.

I have recently been struggling with the ideas of free will and fate, mainly because I sometimes feel compelled at some deep level to partake of medicine for no apparent conscious reason. In my younger years this wasn't a cause of inner conflict, but these days, having a partner and child, I'd like to explore a more stable platform for entheogenic communion... one that takes them into consideration more so that they are not taken by suprise when I feel called to this work.

A recent journey opened me up to the idea that astrology/astronomy could be such a platform.  I notice that lots of the psy/goa trance parties are held outdoors on Full Moons or Solstices.  Perhaps using the cycle of the moon phases to track, chart, and plan personal entheogenic sessions could be of some value?  It's just an idea, but it seems to make intuitive sense to align our personal energies with the cosmic energies.

This type of planning would also make strong use of the alchemical "as above, so below" principle.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and looking around the forum a bit more.  pe@ce
