The Rain Forest / Re: Banisteriopsis muricata

Well done!

very exciting find - to my eyes anyway!

so how are they propagated?

Im after a local relative where i live

Banisteria timorensis now know as Rhyssopterys timorensis

http://www.google.com/search?q=rhyssopt ... 1I7GPEA_en

im not aware of it being studied yet.

Theres another Genus of interest
Cabi paraensis
aka
Callaeum antifebrile

and theres Callaeum species all the way to texas
http://herbarium.lsa.umich.edu/malpigh/ ... /Cal1.html

The bottom one is known in english as a bitter gourd
aka
Foo gwa
Kerala
balsam pear (though oft saved for diff species)

it looks like a wild type
cultivated ones look different
larger
all shapes and sizes from white to deep green

you scoop out the middleand the pith and slice it up like celery
its bitter so acquired taste

stir fries
raw condiment
but better dipped in tempura and served with beer
apparently can be stuffed with pork or prawn and served in a penang style red curry

contains quinine and a range of other immune stimulating substances
lowers blood sugar levels significantly so excellent for type 2 diabetics

re bracteatum

the problem is Australian customs
its a customs prohibited import
so getting it here is a problem

i dont know what the fuss is about? it doesnt even contain morphine, only thebaine

QuoteI know it is native to Northern Queensland, Australia which is the warmest part of Australia. The average winter minimum temperature is very high there compared to anywhere else in Aus.

its warm. i live there

but its not the hottest part! its actually very mild
moderated by rainfall and the influence of the sea
summer temps are noirmally 28-32C day and night over summer
winters rarely drop below 10C minimum but they do drop into the teens

Foresters have told me planst like Teak dont grow as well in cairns as they do in hawaii for example because the temperature in cairns is less stable, and cooler in winter.

If you go inland and across the top end through the NT and into NW westerern Australia - now thats the hottest parts of australia!

Back to T orientalis

most ive seen are actually in suburbia!
sandy beachside suburbs of cairns
sprouting under a frangipani or other tree, dropped by birds

The Rain Forest / Re: Psychotria carthagenensis?
May 07, 2009, 07:37:38 AM
Carthagenensis is very common in australian collections

in excess in some peoples

its very easy to grow, much more hardy

The People who run herbalistics have made a hybrid called 'nexus' which is a Viridis Carthagenesis hybrid

Im quite keen on more collections from different areas of its habitat. seed

on the other hand if people need Carthagenensis just PM me and ill link you up to people i know who have plenty

Hey kundalini

its probably polliantion

they need cross polination, and because they are so easy to propagate by cuttings
often only one clone lives in a large area

you need two different B suaveolens nearby and then you will prob get lost of seeds

QuoteThat's all. Since getting this sand dune filled with the occasional swamp and lots of mosquito laden disease beds, things have moved rather quickly.

Denial is not a River

the sand dune and swamp you talk about has a name
it is called Palestine
and it was already long inhabited by people called Palestinians

here ill pull up a picture so you can see their faces, traditional dress and their humanity

I know your sickness. My country had it until recently
its the sickness of believing in the notion of Terra nullius
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terra_nullius#West_Bank
Until Israel deals with that then its just feeding the hate that grows against it

Im definitely anti-Israeli. Obvious reasons
Im anti-Jewish too - all religions are wrong whether they be the outdated windows 98 of judaism, the stagnat xp of christianity or the dysfunctional Vista of Islam.  Youre all just plain wrong.

but anti-semite. no
Youre all just people, like me, till you choose a political position

In 2003 i was having a discusiion with the then boyfriend of my sister

He was from KL and was very keen to know how to identify the shrooms he'd encountered back in Malaysia

He told me stories about this practice among youth in Northern Malaysia, near the border with Thailand

so either the myth went global at least 6 years ago - and made it to the drug addled youth of KL and Nth Peninsular malaysia

or there is an element of truth in it

The World / Re: Time to tell thetruth about Israel:

For starters im not that young :)
but ive been involved with this issue since i was quite young

Good friends who are Aid workers who've lived in Palestine and lived through the terror that is inflicted on these civilkians by the IDF every waking moment

QuoteOh jesus, here we go..... we have another snot-nosed, 20-something, know-it-all who has all the answers.

hey smart arse. This threads about the truth
not the answers

I did read the article in the begginning. its a good and otherwise accurate article

seems WE are talking the same language
but Icke is pushing his own mystic agenda on a wave of public sentiment

for the sake of Justice does it matter?  perhaps no
for the sake of Truth then yes

What part don't I agree with Icke
I hope we were reading the same article

QuoteThe world watches as a nation of people, the Palestinians, is systematically crushed and destroyed by the tyrants who call the shots in Israel on behalf of that country's real power structure - the House of Rothschild.

Why do they do this? Because the House of Rothschild controls Israel and the House of Rothschild controls the political system of the United States. The network that links the two is called 'Zionism', a Rothschild creation - just like Israel itself.

The 'Jewish homeland' was from the start a Rothschild fiefdom orchestrated through the global secret society network of interbreeding families known as the Illuminati.

This is bullshit.
You really think Israel is in the pockets of some western based conspiracy
Shit no. you are in their pockets. They are a rogue state and they own you.

To lay the blame in the hands of some imaginary third party is disgraceful.
It absolves the responsibility from those who perpetrate them.
What is going on is solely the responsibility of every man and woman who holds citizenship papers for Israel, and the leaders they democratically elect.
The children are innocent, but anyone who sells their birthright for that blood soaked piece of bread by doing their compulsory time in the IDF is guilty by association.
Only Children and the Refusniks remain pure.
(You cant even google that word without encountering malware - try it)

You cant say that one person cant make a difference. Theres only 6 million Israelis.
1 in 6 million still makes a ripple. But most stay silent = guilty

On the other hand I find it hard to blame the Palestinians at all
Everyone says oh how terrible what they do, the bombs the rockets.
That they are partly to blame
Rubbish.

They know what you all know deep down, because its their reality.
The roadmaps, the peace accord, Ceasefires
Its all bullshit. Israel lying and buying time to build another settlement, bulldoze another Palestinian village and 2000 year old olive grove. fit another piece into the roadmap to oblivion. The Israelis don't want peace because they believe they are going to win
They know its calculated genocide and when someone is trying to Kill you, your family and everyone you know. And to erase and invalidate your very existence from history
Then anything goes.

Ask yourself. What would you do in the face of a superior equipped alien force trying to eradicate you? I don't mean an ordinary war – I mean genocidal war. There can be no peace because they want you dead and gone so they can have your land.
So it's a fight to the death

So I say
Go Hamas
Fire those rockets
You've earned the right
If youre gonna go down, go down with a fight

The Allies are proud of how they pulled together in WW2
well the Palestinian War has been going over a hundred years, and 40 years strong
and still these people keep it together, and resist, they are amazing

In the end Israel wont last
It cant. No matter how many ways you compute it, it always ends in destruction
Like their own mythical King Saul – Live by the sword, Die by the Sword
