When considering a sick plant, you have a number of variables to look at: soil, sunlight, water, fertiliser, container, bugs.

First thing I'd do, is I'd get the plant out of the plastic pot and put it in a clay one.  The clay pots 'breathe', which will help prevent root rot.

Then look at the soil.  If you repot the plant into a clay pot, put some rocks in the bottom of the pot to help with drainage.  Use a rich dark soil, like Scott's potting soil and mix in a bit of composted cow manure, along with some perlite.  you want a fluffy soil mix that will drain well.

Next, take a look at what kind of water you're using.  Sometimes tap water has excess minerals it in and those minerals can hurt a plant.  Think about using distilled water.  you may also want to adjust how often you water.  With a clay pot, I only have to water about every 4-5 days (because the plant will start wilting after that, which means she's thirsty).

Then take a look at what kind of fertiliser you're using.  Some folks like the Miracle Grow for azaleas.  It's more acidic.  But there are organic alternatives, if you prefer that path. If you are already using fertiliser, consider how often you're giving it to the plant.

Check your plant carefully for bugs.  Look for white aphids and spider mites.  Spider mites are really tiny, but you can see them and if the infestation is really bad, you can see the webs they weave between leaves.  Tackling them is a project unto itself, so google 'spider mites' and check out the various methods.  In the interim, you can gently hose them off the leaves (be sure to check the undersides of the leaves, that's where they like to hang out).

Good luck!

The gov't has had NO success in eradicating marijuana, they'll have no luck here, either.   But I'm sure they'll make some people's lives miserable as they prosecute for possession with intent to manufacture.  All you Salvia growers, prepare to go underground.  I, for one, am not going to give up my plants!  Big Brother can go screw himself with a rusty gardening tool.

I'm curious as to

a) whether Daniel Siebert was made aware of the fact there was a new strain available--for sure, if I found what I suspected was a new strain, he'd be one of the FIRST people I would contact about the matter.

b) Were the plant samples brought back from Mexico actually Salvia strains?    If so, what kind?  I'm only aware of 7 strains that have been brought back and propagated.  The rest are seed-raised clones.  If the Salvia strains were the same as what could be found domestically, why travel to Mexico to gather them?  If they were different than what we have here, then why weren't some of these plants made available to Mr Siebert? With all due respect, Shaman's Ridge could have had a strain named after it without trying to spend 6 years cloning plants.

I'm not real clear on how a plant can be 'devoid' of salvinorin.  Anyone wanna take a swing at this? I'm not a scientist, so please keep it simple.

Quote from: "Laughing_Brown"This thread is full of so much bull shit salvia was made illegal there because the head shops were selling salvia to kids and you all think it was a bad thing to have it shut down. Shit, your sence of cognitive liberty has gone too far when you think that crap shuld be made available toanyone who wants to buy it.

get real it is the most potent natural psychodelic known to man and not for kids

Control of children starts with the parents.  But when parents abdicate that responsibility or can't be bothered, then it comes down to shops requiring ID to ensure patrons are of age.  Shops that can't handle that responsibility should be shut down.

No one has suggested that kids should be permitted to partake of salvia, or any other entheogen.  The fact is that politicians will use kids as the excuse to make entheogens illegal for adults.  How's that for cognitive liberty?

Seems most of the responses are from men!  Speaking from a woman's perspective, I can attest that for at least a week following a session with the Lady, I have orgasms while asleep.  Normally that doesn't happen, so I assume it's from Her influence.  There is no marked desire during or after the sessions (at least not while I'm awake).  I feel there are other, more playful plant allies who can enhance sexuality.  I consult with Salvia when there's spiritual work to be done (and sometimes that work is not pleasant) so I consider the dreams a gift.

In regards to abstaining from sexual relations for a few days before and a few days after a session, I suspect that in part it could be to permit the build up of that energy for Salvia's use.  To 'save' oneself for Her can help set intention and show discipline.  It preserves a ritual feel and keeps it from becoming something one does on a whim, to break up a bored evening.  That's my take on it.  YMMV.

I consider the democrats and republicans to be two sides of the same, tired coin.  None of them can be trusted to do anything but protect their own interests and they do so on the taxpayers dime.  These folks are in politics as a career and if they did something as radical as eschewing the war on drugs, they could kiss their comfortable careers goodbye.

After having spent several years doing my civic duty, writing letters, making phone calls, and generally making the politicos aware of my stand on several freedom-related issues, I've come to realize that politicians don't give a damn about what their constituents think.

The gov't is attempting to control not substances, but our choices.  They want us to choose not to partake of entheogens and the only way they know to do that is by force (making the entheogen illegal then punishing those who continue to choose to partake of the plant).

Nothing short of a nationwide revolution will turn back the tide currently working to erode our freedoms.

Yes, I'm extremely jaded.

Do what you can to stop this erosion of our freedoms, but don't be surprised if they pooh-pooh your efforts and tell you they're doing this for your own good (or rather, the good of the CHILDREN--their favorite excuse).

Quote from: "X. Torris"Naw.  He used to sell (or at least, list) a variety of strains on his website. But he seemed to have stopped a couple years ago and hasn't sold live plants since.  At least not on his website.

Curious!!  The Sage Wisdom Salvia shop was listing plants for sale as recently as two weeks ago, but now a note says he's out of stock.

Siebert is selling Divinorum plants on his website.  Can it be assumed these are the Paradox strain?  His website does not mention which strain it is.

Thanks.

The Salvia Plane / First timer and salvia extract
March 20, 2005, 01:22:44 PM
I've heard that smoking is the fast track to Lady Salvia, but being a first timer, I'd like a slower introduction.  I've been researching on Erowid as well as other sites regarding trip reports and have noticed that some people have such strong experiences via the smoked method, they cannot conceive of using a tincture/extract, which could cause the experience to go on longer than 10-15 minutes.

What method did you use the first time, which method do you prefer now, and why?

Respectfully,
