The Trade Winds / T. bridgesii
February 06, 2009, 11:53:48 AM
Hello SpiritPlant Traders.  Guess what?  I've got cactus.  This time it's bridgesii.  No concern about Cuzco anything.
Here's what I have:

T. bridgesii                         1" to 2" seedlings    500
T. bridgesii                         2" to 4" seedlings    50
T. bridgesii                          Larger plants -- I have both rooted and unrooted cuts.

T. terscheckii zj112            2" to 4" plants      20
T. terscheckii                    4" to 6" plants      10      Seed grown

I also have a few items for collectors:

I have one 58"  T. pachanoi   'common backburgia'. It's 3" circumference at the base and 2.5" at the top.  The shipping will be a little expensive because of the size and weight.

I have one T. peruvianus with a split stem, so there are 2 plants on 1 root system. The plant itself is 30" or so with 1.5" spines.

All plants are healthy and correctly identified.  I usually ship stuff USPS second day air, but that's expensive now so I will ship Parcel Post, unless you specify something else.

Thanks, Johncactus

Hello again folks. It's fall here in Ohio, and I need to find a new home for some cacti. I have Trichocereus of all shapes and sizes, and it's a good time to expand your collection. There are several different types of Peruvianus and Pachanoi.
All cactus are healthy, and correctly identified. I ship everything USPS second day air.

Let me know if your interested.
Thanks, JohnCactus

The Desert / Lophos forever

Quote from: RifeHereticHey John,

We live in about the same zone. I'm just a spec north of Chicago. I'm keeping my cactii in a strong south window for now, havent noticed much growth though. I'm hoping to get some good growth out of them with a light though.

If a cactus is too small, will it live hibernation?

Rife

If you keep them warm and well lit, they will probably grow. If the light is not sufficient, the new growth will be ugly (etoliation). Small cactus do need some water, but they are very succeptible to bacterial infection (rot). You must let them dry out completely between waterings.

The Desert / Re: Lighting?

Quote from: RifeHereticHey all,

Just a quick Q: How many watts are needed by a cactus? Are grow lights totally worth it? Im wondering if I can just hook up a bunch of flourecents(sp) under a table.

Thanks,

Rife

Hey Rife, I always use 2 25 watt bulbs all winter  for seedlings, but I don't want much growth. I deliberately send them into hibernation by cooling them off and drying them out. The lights are used only to keep them alive. I'm in northern Ohio (zone 5 or 6).

Hey folks, I have lots of peruvians seedlings available. This is an unnamed varity from a European supplier. It will make a nice addition to your collection. They are bright green and fat. Their overall appearence cannot be judged since they are still immature. The spines are already pretty long for their size (2 to 3 inches tall), indicating this will probably be a spiney varitey. I also have some other types,( #427, 'blue' and Ancash). Let me know if your interested. You can PM me at johncactus or e-mail me at mailto:johncactus055@netscape.net">johncactus055@netscape.net.
