I found and talked to the owner of the domain. A guy named XXXXXXX. He said he purchased the domain name at an auction for $260.00 and was trying to recover the old spiritplants data, but has been unsucessful. He cannot locate Eddy. Appearantly, the data is on a server in the UK. He said at this point he would like to sell the domain and would take $400.00 and would like to be rid of it.
As this is a non profit site I don't know if we really want the old domain that bad. We could raise the money if needed though an auction or something.

Also on a side note, I'm not sure I want all of my posts in the hand of a private party I don't know. This is a strange situation.

If we purchased it, I'd just have it redirect to this site. About the only benefit in owning the old address is that there are many links on the net that point there and are now dead. To set the record straight: I am the one doing the deleting, sometimes (if the posts are not too offensive) after moving the thread to the newly re-named reycle bin. As with most trash, the bin gets emptied every so often. I deal with an even hand (or at least that is my aim). Andy is involved only with the difficult techie stuff and is not responsible for my administrative decisions. I will be moving this thread to the recycle bin, where it belongs. We have moved from our old site and what has become of the old name is no longer relevant.

I was just awarded the meritorious service combat medal for bravery in the face of the enemy for my conduct and service in Viet Nam when I was sixteen years old. That's right. Sixteen.
I am also awaiting the approval and award for duty above and beyond when a ship full of supplies I was on broke completely down in South Vietnamese waters - and then floated right into North Vietnamese waters.
I had just turned seventeen years old. Me and the First Engineer worked
sixteen hours strait - with the peripheral help of a couple of the ship's firemen and oiler crew. They weren't "qualified" to do the repairs, so all they could do was mostly the grunt work of helping us remove the "tubes" and gaskets on the outside of the old deisel boilers, scrape the old gaskets off, glue new ones on, that, and help replace the "fire bricking" on the inside of the boilers, bring us coffee and sandwiches, and pray.
