Title: Blues for the Cure
Post by: JRL on September 27, 2005, 08:50:21 PM
This is something we do at the Torch Club every year. It's a benefit show for the Susan G Komen Foundation, a huge breast cancer orginizaton.

We do a show featuring some of the best blues/rock/R&B talent around  Northern California and it gets recorded every year and 10,000 cds are made.

I am on several cuts from the cds over the years and this year I am playing with two acts. So when it's done you can check out the music scene I keep raveing about and support a great cause.

Well about to leave for the big dance. Kids, this show will be worth a trip to Sacto, better believe that. It always is.

Well I hope the CD garners more interest when it comes out.

I guess I was pretty vague. Just got back from the show. Played two killer sets so something I am on will be on the CD.

What a show it was, vibe strong, smooth like butter.

One tune we played I hope makes it: Lew Fratis and Bubble Chamber(me and drummaster RT) doing Fever, the old Peggy Lee tune.

This Fever was so hot it was delerious. Lewie was in his best Jeff Beckish form.

Next tune we were joined by Jimmy Pailer for A Real Mutha For Ya. So funky!

Then Lew left, Big Bob came up and did I Guess I Showed Her, written by Robert Cray and we stretched out on a 2 chord vamp and jammed away.

ThenMs. Stacie joined us and brought th house down with Piece of My Heart and a couple Areatha Franklin tunes.

Just one set out of 6, a splended time was had by all and we raised   thousands not counting the future cd sales.

I just heard the mix of the set I did with the Aaron King Trio, and it is happening!

They told us that two of the tunes were headed for the compilation. Not neccasarily the two I would have picked but oh well.

It was a great party, and some great jamming music after the dinner. This really a gem of an event, we got such a great scene.

The CD is now available for $15, follow the above link. If they don't ship let me know and I will help.

BTW I am on 3 cuts, 2 uncredited(another story all together)
