I wonder why it is that certain drugs gives you tension in the jaws and face. MDMA does it a lot, but acid also. Does anyone know how that works physically?
Yeah, and whasssup with that tightness in the back of the neck thingy too? ? ? (got that one last night as a matter 'o fact  ) sal
Well, I remember hearing rumors about that as a youngin. The most common one being that it was cut with strychnine....... or at least that it was used to bond the lsd to blotter paper. Which is of course incorrect.
Shulgin explains it all in this link,

LSD does have some stimulant properties which may explain why some people get stiff necks exc. Coupled with purity, age, stress, and expectation, I'm sure a person could draw more reasonable conclusions.
Yeah stiff neck, tight jaw, and my nemisis, shoulder pain.
Almost made me swear off Hoffman's elixer. Almost. Gotta be top shelf or I will be miserable. In my case I got neuro-muscular issues big time. I think years of leaning against the weight of my guitar with my weight on my right foot has compressed a bunch of nerves and tissue. My two sides seem to be out of line by an inch or so. Then flood it wth psychic energy and it lights up like a Christmas tree. I have kind of learned to use that pain to pinpoint the areas that I need to relieve.
Last time I hung with Hoffman, I spent a good chunk of time in a hot tub, just chasing the pain around, just letting the jets work it. Nice.
Wheres that dude albert he owes me some money ??????
Dude, I owe him everything.

Me, I was never able to sleep on the Owsley gobbled as a misguided youth.
I have been told the the best of whta is around now approaches that in purity if not potency.
rhodo: I've been told by folks on this board that the whole double/triple separation of lsd from impurities and the resulting higher quality product was an urban myth.
But what you are saying is what I'd always been inclined to believe.

its is possibly an effect of the vasoconstricting properties of the lsd, acting as a serotonin agonist...just a thought but not to be taken as fact
possibly postural changes may leave the weak-n used in normal life support muscle doing more work and hence get sore, may jus be a response to clench the jaw likewise...but like the muscle in your face hurting from a 'grin'...
I've heard it's because of small amounts of ergot like compounds that were not cleaned out in the wash phase. The more you wash to clean it up, the more lsd you lose so most back room chemists do minimal washing. Really clean cid doesn't give you stomach cramps or jaw tightness. People used to think that was caused by strichnine but that wasn't it. Ergot was used in the middle ages to induce labor. It's very potent and tiny amounts on grain caused whole villiages to die from ergotism.
I've experienced all those body load issues at one time or another, but I've found they are all susceptible to the same cure: get up and move!
Go play on the swingset, run downhill so fast you fall, make love for hours, dance, whirl like a dervish, whatever...
Most of the people I've know who always have body load problems are sitting around throughout the trip.
Move. That's why god made Frisbees...
I would say that it is common for the more powerful phenethylamines to be sold as LSD, and that bruxism (jaw-clenching) is a common side effect of such substances. I'm not saying that LSD doesn't cause this, and that your acid is not really LSD, just suggesting a possibility.
nice point mok, and as a note, there are not many chem,s at all that can be concentrated enough on blotter to cause much effect, hence even if stychnine was on blotter, it wouldnt cause anything..
