Just heard on the news that Fats Domino told friends he and his family were going to ride out the storm and now they are missing. This is another katrina disaster.

Everybody in new orleans has been reported missing. There are no phones in or out. The only way one would know he wasn't missing would be to see the fat cat on cnn news as he's getting ready to evacuate or to go talk to him in person at the superdome or wherever eh prolly landed.
I have little sympathy for any cats with the means to evacuate who stayed.
The butt-poor peeps are the victims who lacked any real options before the disaster struck.

I be guessing the reason he insisted on staying was to ward off looters. Love of material possessions often trumps personal safety no matter how talented the rich folk in question may be.......
But I could be wrong.
