Title: Datura pics
Post by: random on August 15, 2005, 03:41:42 PM
My datura's just flowered a few nights ago and took a few snapshots.  I think they're great flowers, but not so great as an entheogen.

Those are beautiful!  Are they Belle Blanche?

Peace.

I believe they are belle blanche, but I'm not positive, I acquired it in a trade and an exact name was never given.  If someone could help me out, I could get more close-up photos.

One year I grew datura metel double purple. They were small till I put some in the ground. Pretty soon they were 7 ft tall with thick black stems and tons of flowers.

They had a heavy witchy vibe. Hmmmm

How long does the seed stay viable?

datura have the most beautiful of flowers,
i also grew some metel, started the seeds in a baggie but none seemed to sprout, another bag w/ seed tray even got placed over top, then i went to throw it away one day and there there were, 3 heatly strong seedlings beating the odds.

one survived to maturity, the other 2 got sun burned... most amazing flowers!never set seed tho..

the scent was amazingly powerful, almost scary, made u not wanna mess w/ it...

speaking of atropine, had a pharmacology practical today, we were dosed with atropine..very small dose tho, got a bita light head nd blurred visuals but nothing profound..according to the demonstrator, 2 was more 'interesting'..

Here's a picture of toe I took at a curandera's compound in Peru last month:

Very beautiful.

I've never really done much work with toe or other solanaceous plants, although I did have mapacho wrapped in a teo leaf during an ayahuasca ceremony. It caused my head to explode in a nice way!

The seeds of datura have been stored for 32 years and have come out with 90% germination rate at the end. The seeds sprout much better with some light hitting them. I believe it was 10% germination in utter darkness and 75%+ with light hitting the seed.

I jsut had a minature datura stramonium seed pod burst. Got around 200 black seeds. I have a datura double creme im hoping with flower and seed first. The growth had practically stopped in a pot. When put in the earth and contacting its power, the plant just soared 2 feet higher in a week. i have a strange datura stramium with purple flowers i found at an aunts farm. Grabbed about ten plants. Have a datura inoxia (meteloids) thats a bloody tree. Has about 12 seed pods. Very nice, two fowers a night almost.

Title: D.wrightii
Post by: Wakinyan on March 19, 2006, 09:02:50 PM
Datura wrightii is a bridge Datura in that it can be crossed to 4 different species of datura. wrightii can be crossed to metel, inoxia, leichardtii, and quercifolia. Very beautiful specimen you have there.

Ya know, there is another way to put Datura to use - without ingesting it - but it's really best in a ritual or ceremonial setting where one is already aiming for a particular state of mind with or without the use of anything that could be considered an intoxicant or ingested or what have you...

Beautiful D. wrightii... I don't have that one this year. I am coddling various seeds to germinate though.... and unfortunately I think an unknown Dat I brought in might have spider mites.. need to go find the magnifying glass...

I saw some of those in bloom in the wild last time I was in California. Have you crossed any of these to D. inoxia or D. metel. I'd love to make those crosses this summer if you have any spare seed floating around. I don't know if crossing (D. Wrightii x D. inoxia) x (D. wrightii x D. metel) would work, but I'm still dreaming of getting a single flowered dark  purple flower.

I do not know who's pictures everyone is talking about or who Wakinyan is talking to, but I have Double Blooming Solid Colored Purple Datura plants, I do not know what var except that this looks exactly like those in the photos of mine just dark purple instead.  I have little seed of these as they came from a neighbors plant and I will not be around here long enough to see them set seed again.  I will however, have seed probably in early fall from the plants that I have growing as of right now.   I will keep ya posted and post a picture or two when they bloom.

Also, I am not 100% positive, but are those in my photos inoxia and not wrightii as they do not have the tinge around the corolla nor the familar smell of wrightii, plus they have a wavy corolla and 10 spikes instead of 5 long and 5 short.  Just asking anybody with more knowledge on classification of these if they could help in positive identification.

I am admiring the D.wrightii pictures. As for your Double purple Derheist, I would say that you have a Datura metel. Datura inoxia has a short spiked fruit whereas Datura metel has a smoothed bumped fruit.

That type of datura grows in the SW-USA. It is pretty common. They are pretty, but quite nasty when taken as a drug.
