Sida seeds came up within 3 days after I planted them.

The ephedras usually take a little longer to germinate.

Are you keeping your soil too wet  -  I think that that might have contributed for your  epherdra seeds not comming up - ROT in other words.

next time try course sharp sand - so no organic material in the seed bed. keep it warm. Humidity dome might be a good to keep the seeds from drying out completely.

You can also sterilize the course sharp sand to better prevent rot.

do you plant them in the ground or in pots?
and do they have to be placed mostly/little shady?

I just got some sida seeds. I was told they need a bath in acid to activate them. Hydrochloric acid was mentioned. I'm still trying to get more info on the process.

Stonehenge - with me the sida seeds popped up within 5 days w/o pretreatment. They should germinate without much trouble.

The only thing that really works in my favour is the weather overhere - it is a constand within the 80's F, so between 80 and 90 F - almost yearround.

Plant them in small pots first - then repot them. 1 seed per pot!

Do you have a photo? What conditions did you grow them under, type of soil, ferts and so on? I have some seeds but haven't tried starting them yet.
