Title: Rove leaked CIA operatives name to media
Post by: laughingwillow on July 12, 2005, 07:32:25 AM
I read in the local paper this morning that C Rove has been identified as a leak in the V Plame case by the notes of one reporter. I may be naive, but it looks like they might nail finally that scumball. Top dems are calling for his security clearance to be revoked. I'd rather see him jailed as well.

It looks like there may have been another official leaker, as another reporter has been required to hand over notes concerning sources for this story apparently DIDN'T get an OK from Rove to release his name.

I was hoping Rove would be implicated in this mess.

A link to a web piece airing this story would be appreciated.

This one says he may face 10 years in prison.  That doesn't seem right.  Treason is only 10 years?  You can get more than that for using medical marijuana.

I like his defense so far: It is totally ridiculous to suggest I had anything to due with this, and if I did, I didn't know she was an agent, and if I did know she was an agent I was really trying to cover up her identity, yea that's right, I was trying to help, actually I'm a hero.

Thanks for the link, tstt.

It appears that following the bogus story of yellow-cake boom-boom batter being sent from Nigeria to Iraq, an investigation uncovered the truth about the accuracy of the above claims. But it wasn't our administration that authorized the investigation. Rather it was someone in the CIA. This angered the administration. Soon after, a CIA operative's name was leaked to the media by senior members of the administration.

I'm guessing Plame's office had something to do with authorizing the investigation lead/uncovered  by her husband that pointed to the bogus claims of Iraq's WDM capabilities leading up to the invasion.

I can't help but draw parallels to the deepthroat scenario of the nixon era.

Watergate pales in comparison to this story if true and if it goes up to the president.  I know if I were a CIA agent, I would be pissed as hell at this. Republican, Democrate, whatever, you don't reveal agents for any reason - well one, you want them dead. I would hope someone in the CIA would push for a real investigation. While we are here speculating, imagine if the grand jury finds several sources outing Ms. Plume? What does that say about where the leak really came from?

The investigation of this issue could lead the geniuses to finally connect the dots, and prosecute the lot for lying to take USA to war. But prolly not. Still, I would love to see Rove do time.
